BEST NEW BAR: TINY VICTORIES
Tucked away off the corner of W Davis and Tyler St in Oak Cliff, this little cocktail lounge is a gem! It was created by This & That Concepts, the same team behind High Fives, Alice and the upcoming Dibs on Victory, among several others. Tiny Victories aim? To be a neighborhood bar. And it has definitely accomplished that, with its adorable patio out back, to an intimate decor inside, to former Victor Tangos-bartenders slinging delicious cocktails. Our favorite time to go? Before or after we grab dinner somewhere up or down the street. A Tiny Victories cocktail is the perfect pairing for the high-quality restaurant scene in the area. We recommend trying the "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” cocktail.

BEST NEW beauty experience: Book a birdie
It seems like everything in our lives is moving towards becoming on-demand, with several niche apps popping up this year to help make our lives easier and more effortless, and that includes the amazing hair styling app Book a Birdie. The app that brings a hair stylist to you, whether you’re at the office, at home, at your gym, etc, currently offers services to Dallas, Tarrant and Collin counties. The blowouts run you $50 while an up-do costs $95. The handpick stylists bring everything including all the tools, brushes and product so you only have to sit back and relax!

BEST NEW BREWERY: OAK CLIFF BREWING CO
Located near Tyler Station, Oak Cliff Brewing Co arrived in September, bringing the neighborhood the first craft brewery! The founders, who had grown up in Oak Cliff, came back to find it very different, with gentrification bringing in development and change. The one thing they noticed was missing? A brewery! And hence, Oak Cliff Brewing Co came to be, with the founders stating on their website that, “Beer-making is more than a craft for us. It's how we tell our stories.” They welcome you in to hear their story as well as try their delicious four beers…we love the IPA and Farmhouse!

BEST NEW COFFEE SHOP: NATIVE COFFEE COMPANY
There is a lot of love out there already for this Addison coffee shop with several comments below, shouting out how good the coffee is and how amazing the environment and staff are. And we agree! This craft coffee shop has done a phenomenal job on every aspect of their place, but for us, it’s the decor that takes the cake. What makes Native so special though is its focus on quality. Don’t come here expecting a quick cup of coffee, but an expertly crafted brew that might take a bit longer, but will taste much better. They also aim to be a gathering space for “artists, musicians, creatives, students, deep thinkers, adventurers, conversationalists and coffee geeks” to “interact and discover something new.”

BEST NEW DATE SPOT: Billy can can saloon
If you follow us on Instagram, you might know that Billy Can Can has become one of our new go-to spots. We love the character that went into the decor, which is sometimes hard to find in Dallas. Everything in the restaurant was built or sourced from local artisans, including the grand wood bar. We also love how the Victory Park saloon has created two spaces with two totally different feels, but with the same overarching “throw-back, but modern western” vibe. The main room is big and bright, and perfectly inviting for drinks and apps, while the back room is dark and sultry, perfect for an intimate and romantic date night out! Whatever the reason for visiting though, don’t miss out on the deviled eggs!

While we were sad to hear the news of Good to Go Tacos shuttering, but the space quickly filled with a new dumpling restaurant that filled its shoes. Say hello to Hello Dumpling! Located next to Good Friend Beer Garden & Burger, this Asian restaurant pumps out delicious dumplings and noodles! We are slightly obsessed! The dough and noodles are hand made and we suggest trying them all! We love the beef skewers too…they make for the perfect appetizer to the rest of the menu!

BEST NEW HOTEL BAR: THE FRENCH ROOM BAR, THE ADOLPHUS HOTEL
The Adolphus Hotel really outdid itself with its renovations. We have stopped into the hotel probably 30 times in the last year, but are still awed every time! And the French Room Bar is really a treasure. With the salon room outside the main bar area, warm with wood walls, salon-style artwork and beautiful furniture, you’ll want to make this room, your home. Step inside the main bar area, and you’ll feel like you’re no longer in Dallas. Dark and romantic, with beautiful cocktails, we love the French Room Bar as a unique alternative to the usual casual-patio bars or breweries you find around Dallas.

In fact, they are next door to each other…so you can be super healthy, before treating yourself a little! Azucar creates authentic Cuban ice creams, where you can find creative flavors like Olive Oil, Orange Zest & Dark Chocolate, Sweet Potato Ancho Chile Chocolate Chip and Orange Blossom-Almond. Beyond the French Room Bar, you’ll find the cherry on top of everything the Adolphus holds in its historic hotel: The French Room. A truly stunning room, it’s worth it to walk in and take some photos, but stay and you’ll enjoy one of the best tasting menus the city offers, complete with five courses including a cheese cart!
