The When & Where of Wine Walks in DFW

The delight of grabbing a souvenir wine glass and taking to the streets for an evening of sipping and shopping knows no bounds. The OG Dallas Wine Walk was born back in 2013 in Bishop Arts and has since spread city wide. From Deep Ellum to Cedar Springs, wine walks have become a lively city staple. For those across the metroplex who also want to enjoy some good old fashion wining and walking, both Denton and Plano now have monthly events too.
Here’s how DFW wine walks traditionally go down:
Step 1: Secure your glass. Most wine walks have a pre-order option where you can lock down a glass - and often for a discount. Prices vary from $10-25. The bright side: you get to keep it as a souvenir. For those planning to purchase at the event site, be sure to show up early to guarantee a glass.
Step 2: Hit the check in booth (exact locations are listed below) to grab your glass. For those who purchased in advance, there is usually a shortcut line to stop in. From here, you’ll be given your glass, a wristband and a ‘passport’ map packed with pinpoints of all the participating locations.
Step 3: Get going! Now you have 3-6+ hours to mosey along the store fronts while sipping on wine. Each participating store is stocked with wine (and sometimes additional adult bevvies). Once your glass is poured, they’ll stamp your passport and you can carry on to the additional stops.
Bonus Points: For most of these events, if you get a certain amount of stamps you’ll be entered in a drawing at the end of the night for local gift certificates. So if you’re lucky, you can pretty much get paid to spend an evening sipping and shopping.
What makes wine walks so wonderful?
These events are the ultimate way to get to know a neighborhood and community on a deeper level. There’s something special about supporting local storefronts and business owners - all while sipping and socializing. You’ll find yourself chatting with strangers while waiting in the pour lines.
For such a lower ticket price, you’ve got yourself an evening packing of exploring new places and meeting new faces. And THAT is what makes DFW wine walks the way to go.
