Dallas Pets Alive!

The goal of Dallas Pets Alive! is to make North Texas no-kill, and they need your help! Volunteers help with events, spend time with the animals, and in some cases, foster homeless animals until they find their forever home. You can also aid with transport, admin, photography and other more “back-end” roles. In order to get started, you just need to have a love of animals, be able to represent yourself and DPA in a professional manner, and fill out a volunteer form! Visit their website for more details and to fill out your online application.

SPCA of Texas

The SPCA has so many different ways for you to volunteer with them! With two locations, one in Dallas and one in McKinney, they need all hands on deck. You can sign up exclusively to foster, or you can help them with a variety of odds and ends at either location: morning cleaning and animal care, walking and socializing dogs, socializing cats, grooming, animal and event photography, office support, and more. Head to their website to get started!

Paws in the City

Paws in the City is always in need of volunteers; it is an all-volunteer organization where their animals are either fostered or boarded at kennels! That means they i. d.o.n.t have their own shelter. In order to provide as much support to the animals, both medically and otherwise, they don’t have any paid staff. Like most shelters, they have volunteer opportunities in adoption and in fostering, but because they don’t have paid staff members, they are also looking for volunteer photographers, event coordinators, volunteer liaisons, and more!

Dallas Animal Shelter

The Dallas Animal Shelter is the official shelter of the City of Dallas. Ongoing volunteer openings include animal enrichment and socialization, adoption support, and fostering. However, if you’re looking for group volunteer opportunities or one-time events, they will take that support as well! DAS has off-site adoption events all the time, and is always looking for help. Take a look at the city’s website for all of their volunteer opportunities.

Dallas Companion Animal Project

The DCAP’s mission is to strengthen the connection between people and animals. They offer programs to address their five main initiatives: spay/neuter, pet owner outreach, pet placement support, awareness and education, and feral and community cats. One of the coolest things they do is offer free spay and neuter services to low-income pet owners who otherwise could not afford to have their pets fixed. Ready to get involved? Visit their website for more info!
