Did you know Taco Flats has been around since the 1970s? Although, it’s changed quite a bit…the fresh food and Austin laid back vibe has stayed the same. It’s truly one of our go-tos in the city and we can’t wait for it to be yours too!

TACO FLATS

The original Taco Flats (from the 1970s) was the ‘local hangout’ and known for its music scene…hosting some of Austin's long-time greats! The original closed its doors in 1981 and then many years later Simon Madera had a dream to open a local neighborhood bar and got in contact with the original Taco Flats man himself. This inspired him to give TF another run in the city and the first location was opened in 2014 on Burnet Rd!

THE SPACE

Austin restaurants always deliver in the decor category! Although the space is small, every corner is perfectly designed with pops of color, wooden accents, trendy pendant lighting, and bright tile on the bar and tabletops! The outdoors is a bit more relaxed with long high tops and picnic tables where many people sit among strangers, something we also love about Austin!

TACOS & MORE

With 18 tacos to choose from, there is something to please the whole crew! Our personal favorite and most popular is the Pirata with fajita beef and onions, jack cheese, refried black beans and the green sauce is the icing on the cake! We also love the Pescadito topped with cabbage, pico de gallo and cheese! They have several veggie and vegan options too! Start with the pick 3 dip trio so you can try the queso, guac and pickled veggies!

Their breakfast tacos are also a crowd favorite! But if tacos aren’t your thing, no problem! Their menu features other Tex Mex classics like quesadillas, flautas, tortilla soup, ceviche, elote and beyond!

MARGS & MORE

They are known for their Spicy Frozen Margarita so if you are a jalapeño marg fan, you will be in paradise! Also featuring many cocktails with their take on a classic Paloma, Old Fashioned, Mule and more! They have a fully stocked bar with great tequilas and mezcals if you are interested in a ranch water too!
