DINER BAR

Opened back in April by popular Savannah chef Mashama Bailey and Johno Morsiano - known for their restaurant called The Grey, which is an upscale restaurant within a converted Greyhound bus station. Soon after that opening in 2014, chef Bailey was receiving a James Beard Award for best chef in the Southeast. 8 years later, they ventured out to Austin to grace us all with the wonder that is Diner Bar at Thompson!

FOOD

Of course, the chef had to bring some of her most beloved dishes from Savannah and we are so glad she did! The menu features fancier items like foie gras and grits, seafood boudin with potato salad, lamb crepinettes, and the bone-in-wagyu ribeye, which stole the dang show! For starters, enjoy oysters, deviled eggs, and assorted bread and butter…talk about melting in your mouth! Also, it features an insane brunch menu…we can’t wait to try it!


THE BAR

The bar situation has all you need + more. An array of wines, beers, classic and fancier cocktails. Our order included the Cameron’s Kick, with bourbon, scotch, and a lemon flavor, and the Garden Daiquiri, with rum and rich flavors like turmeric, rosemary, and orange! So delicious and pairs so nicely with the rich cuisine.


THE VIBES

Your eye instantly catches the horseshoe-shaped bar featuring a raw oyster and vodka display. All the decor is so chic with a retro flare. The glass walls give great natural light and provide such a mood in the evening, as well. A laid-back and classy vibe all in one. Come enjoy Happy Hour daily from 4 PM to 6 PM and all night on Sundays and Mondays!
