KALITA HUMPHREYS THEATER
After being approached by founding Dallas Theater Center Director Paul Baker, Wright presented one of his unbuilt designs: an intimate theater with a circular stage and an innovative revolving center platform. Construction began in 1955 and was completed shortly after Wright’s death in 1959.

We discovered this spot after catching a show by the Dallas Theater Center, which often puts on productions here if you want to experience it for yourself. Their next 2026 show at the Kalita Humphreys Theater is Fat Ham, starting at the end of January, followed by Where We Stand in February!
A PART OF DALLAS HISTORY
Today, the theater remains a significant architectural and cultural landmark in Dallas. It’s now part of the AT&T Performing Arts Center, with ongoing efforts to revitalize and preserve its original spirit while updating it for the 21st century.
