CENTRAL MARKET UPTOWN
Located at 3524 McKinney Ave., at the corner of Lemmon Avenue, the new Central Market will take over the old Albertsons grocery store, which has been vacant since 2016. While this prime location has long needed a makeover, the original plans for a mixed-use project, including office space, hotels, and residential units, have now been revised.

A LONG TIME COMING
We remember first sharing the news of a revamp of the empty lot and an impending Central Market back in 2016!! Our post was super exciting for the community at the time, and then we sat and watched as the lot sat vacant with no movement year after year.
MORE THAN A GROCERY STORE
And while the original 2016 plans aren’t exactly the same as these ones, this new Central Market will offer much more than your average grocery store! This new location will feature:
🚗 Expanded parking on two levels
🍽️ Open-concept cooking school
🏘️ Community room for neighborhood meetings
☕ Cafe area
🎶 Small stage for live music
OPENING DATE
Construction is set to begin next year, pending city zoning and approvals. The existing building will undergo a complete reno to transform it into a state-of-the-art food and community destination.
What are your thoughts on the shift from a mixed-use development to a standalone grocery store? Are you excited about the new Central Market, or would you have preferred something different?!
