We are obsessed and almost as excited to share El Carlos Elegante with y’all as we were to try it!

Updated December 2022

EL CARLOS ELEGANTE

Located in the Design District on N Riverfront just down from its ‘sister’ spot The Charles, El Carlos aims to capture the Latin spirit in both the food and decor, per an article by Eater. From the group Duro Hospitality, you can expect that same kind of over-the-top decoration as you see at the Charles and Sister, but to us, with a bit more of a contemporary atmosphere.

THE SPACE

Inspired by a traditional hacienda, step into the restaurant and be greeted by a half-enclosed courtyard with hanging red lanterns. We couldn't take our eyes off of all the artwork, like the super Texan cowboy paintings and huge art pieces made up of individual drawings. And a fun fact: almost all of the furniture is sourced from Mexico!

TWO PATIOS

Not one but two patios to enjoy! Check out the gorgeous enclosed back patio that is perfect for any time of year, complete with a cozy fireplace, or check out the open-air dining room with stunning metal features and a fountain.

THE MENU

From traditional homemade Mexican masa to Argentinian wood-fired meats, the menu features first-class ingredients! Start your meal with accouterments of jicama, cucumber, & more topped with Tajin & a side of chamoy. Follow up with main dishes like Chorizo Molotes & the Seafood Cocktail.

THE DRINKS

Sip on a delicious array of fun cocktails with a Latin twist. The Checco was our favorite and if you like strong drinks, try the frozen Mexican Candy! If you'd rather sip the vino, check out the extensive wine menu with bottles from all over the world.
