It has been a big month for reopenings and we couldn't be more excited to see some of our favorite spots welcoming the community back through their doors. This month check out a true farm to table restaurant, dim sum, an iconic Dallas staple's brand new location, and more.
RECENTLY OPENED
THE FOUNDRY
Neighborhood: Lower Greenville
Opened: October 7, 2021
About: The Foundry closed when the pandemic first began and they have softly reopened under new ownership! While the menu is currently limited and they are still in the process of renovations, there is still beer, fried chicken, live music and great vibes to enjoy while the rest comes together!
Cuisine: Casual patio vibes and southern-inspired eats
The 101: Visit now, and visit again down the road to see the space continue to evolve as renovations continue, and even more concepts launch.
THE GARDEN CAFE
Neighborhood: East Dallas
Opened: October 6, 2021
About: While their doors first opened back in 2002, Garden Cafe decided to indefinitely close during the pandemic, and have just reopened! This is a truly unique farm-to-table restaurant, where you eat among the garden right where the produce is grown!
Cuisine: Southern inspired farm to table
The 101: Standout menu items include the red snapper, chicken & dumplings, meatloaf, and shrimp and grits to name a few. Also, it’s no longer BYOB - they now serve wine and beer, and cocktails made with wine or kombucha!
NATIONAL ANTHEM
Neighborhood: East Quarter
Opened: October 6, 2021
About: Highly anticipated opening brought to us by local restauranteur, Nick Badovinus of YO Lobster and Town Hearth to name a few. Inside you’ll find lots of plants, old motorcycles, books and trinkets and pop art to adorn the walls. Even the staff is dressed in retro car shop suits or denim shirts to match the throwback American vibes

The 101: A casual yet elevated dining experience. And be on the lookout for the rooftop opening by the end of the year!
NEON KITTEN
Neighborhood: Deep Ellum
Opened: October 1, 2021
About: Located in the former Beauty Bar location. A stunning space with floral motifs walls, velvet and leather furniture, tropical plants and Asian decor. Get ready for coasters with a map of Tokyo, Neon Kitten stamped into sushi and plates created by local artists (coming soon)
Cuisine: Dim sum & Japanese inspired craft cocktails
The 101: Be on the look out for Blackbird Society, their invite-only speakeasy set to open later this month
SISTER
Neighborhood: Lower Greenville
Opened: October 2021
About: A bright and airy trattoria with neighborhood vibes from the team behind The Charles. Located in the former Grape space, they are open for dinner 7 nights a week, and will be adding brunch Friday-Sunday soon!
Cuisine: Italian meets Mediterranean
The 101: We love the tree in the center and the romantic garden-like atmosphere it gives. Everything is served family style so order a few plates to share with the table!

ELEPHANT EAST
Neighborhood: Harwood District
Opening: Late October 2021
About: Harwood Hospitality Group's newest concept; an “adventurous, and lively escape from the ordinary” according to the press release
Cuisine: Pan-Asian
The 101: Get ready for creative and out of the ordinary Asian dishes (hello sesame-fried mochi doughnuts) and cocktails
MI COCINA ON THE PARK
Neighborhood: In Klyde Warren Park
Opening: October 18, 2021
About: Features floor to ceiling windows with views straight into Klyde Warren to give you an outdoor ambience yet set within upscale Tex Mex decor

The 101: They will also have a walk-up window where you can order to-go items such as burgers and tacos to enjoy picnic style in the park
