For a true taste of the gulf coast, S&D Oyster is a hidden gem located in State Thomas! Whether it's fresh fish or fried seafood, it's on the menu to go along with their darling charm and killer patio that’s perfect for the summer months!

Family founded in 1976, S&D is tucked into a historic building on the M-Line trolley route, which pulls up conveniently out front. It feels much like a cozy spot outside NOLA with Gulf Coast style seafood to match! The original dining room and building itself dates back 130 years and has a comfy, dedicated bar, too!

On The Menu

If gulf fresh seafood is your thing, definitely go for an order of raw oysters, which were massive and came with a table side cocktail sauce that our server prepared! Also be sure to try their amazing iced tea, shrimp cocktail, or an S&D special from the bar like the St. Charles Rum Punch, Bloody Mary or an Oyster Shooter. Next time we’re planning to try the pineapple sherbet dessert that sounds amazing!

DINING ROOM

In addition to doubling their square footage, they’ve added on the full bar room, 2 side rooms with wood burning fireplaces and more, including a New Orleans inspired patio with an upper terrace and dreamy fountain! We went on a day with perfect patio weather, and it was truly divine! They do not accept reservations, so plan accordingly for your visit! We went on a weekday right after the lunch rush and had the patio to ourselves!
