Updated May 2025
Better Bird
Neighborhood: West Dallas
Cuisine: American
About: Recently opened in Commerce Fork Food Co, Better Bird is a takeout and delivery only restaurant, specializing in all things fried chicken – sandwiches, tenders, and salads, plus some veggie options featuring paneer. They’re open all day, from 11am to 10pm.
The 101: The fried chicken sandwich craze has really taken off over these last few years, and we’re so here for it! Our faves from the menu include the Grand Fried Chicken Sandwich, the Paneer Sandwich, the Chop Salad, and the house-made potato chips are a must!
Burger Schmurger
Neighborhood: White Rock
Cuisine: American
About: One of Dallas’ most beloved pop-ups just opened its first brick-and-mortar in East Dallas! Known for their double-patty smashburgers and laid-back, no-frills vibe, they’ve been flipping burgers in the back of bars like High Fives since right after the pandemic.
The 101: We’ve been fans of this spot since the beginning, and are so excited for their new location! The retro space features a pool table in the back and karaoke nights, giving us all the nostalgia. You must get the Sicario (perfect for spice lovers), The Schmurger, and the loaded Schmog!
Chuy’s Tex-Mex
Neighborhood: Lower Greenville
Cuisine: Tex-Mex
About: After over 30 years at the Knox location on McKinney Ave, the only Chuy’s in Dallas proper closed its doors – only to return 10 days later at a new location. The new Chuy’s reopens April 28th in the 8,000-square-foot former Desert Racer space.
The 101: Creamy jalapeno dip, frozen margs, and retro vibes – there’s a reason Chuy’s is a cult-favorite across the state! While we were sad to see the OG Dallas location go, the new space is just as funky – with an amazing patio!
Escape Brunch & Cocktails
Neighborhood: Northeast Dallas
Cuisine: American (Brunch)
About: This lively spot quietly opened on Upper Greenville Ave, serving up an elevated brunch menu with everything from crispy chicken and waffles to fluffy pancakes, plus craft cocktails, and mimosas.
The 101: This spot is going to be a go-to for groups looking for a Sunday Funday, from the hype music to massive mimosa towers. Plus, the space is massive with big tables, cozy couches, and a modern vibe! The menu is pretty affordable, too – highlights include the Texas Omelette, Amigas Tacos, and the Shrimp and Grits.
Evelyn
Neighborhood: Design District
Cuisine: Steakhouse
About: The Evelyn Dallas is a three-part concept featuring a 50’s glam dining room, a ruby red bar and a sophisticated disco lounge. From the same group as The Mexican, Evelyn aims to be a place where Dallasites can dine and dance the night away. And it’s intentionally female-forward, with Hollywood glamour at the core of the design.
The 101: While technically opened in the final days of March, we couldn't leave this spot out of our April round up! The space is absolutely gorgeous, and while the menu centers around a steakhouse vibe, we didn’t feel like we were at a steakhouse at all! All three spaces feel girly, yet sophisticated, making it a one-stop shop for the perfect night out for dinner, followed by drinks and dancing! (Featured header image)
Le Bloom
Neighborhood: Uptown
Cuisine: Coffee shop
About: Founded by SMU grad Layne Tenebaun, Le Bloom was inspired by weekend mornings in her hometown near San Francisco: grabbing coffee and picking up a bouquet at the farmers market. Now she’s recreated that same feeling in Dallas, complete with seasonal blooms, curated candles and vases, and a coffee and matcha bar.
The 101: This adorable spot feels straight out of California! We loved shopping the shelves of home decor, made-to-order bouquets, and grab-and-go bundles (available on weekends only)! Try the vanilla cardamom latte or rose matcha while you shop!
Pane Nostro
Neighborhood: Bishop Arts
Cuisine: Italian
About: Formerly located in McKinney, Pane Nostro is a beloved family-run restaurant that focuses on authentic Italian eats and drinks, all served in a fine dining setting.
The 101: This charming spot transports you to Italy, located in an adorable blue and white house! The intimate restaurant is perfect for date night, with all the best Italian eats on the menu like a dozen handmade pasta dishes, fresh seafood, and an extensive wine list.
Terrazza di Triozzi
Neighborhood: Lower Greenville
Cuisine: Coastal Italian
About: Located above sister restaurant Via Triozzi, this long-awaited rooftop is designed to feel like a chic Italian perch, think yellow and white striped decor, shaded awnings, and lots of plants, with lounge-style seating. Plus, it boasts its own menu focusing on lighter bites.
The 101: This is the European summer vibes we’ve been longing for! The highlight? A lineup of 14 Italian amari, from well-known names like Aperol to lesser-known favorites like Averna, Cardamaro, and Cynar. It’s a great spot for groups with plenty of shareables and great cabanas!
Winsome Prime
Neighborhood: Trinity Groves
Cuisine: Steakhouse
About: Formerly known as The Warwick, Houston restaurant Winsome Prime has landed in Dallas, serving a luxurious menu of sushi, steaks, and elevated fusion dishes. The Dallas location is very similar to the beloved Houston spot, known for its chic and elevated interior.
The 101: Moody lighting, black and gold finishes, and dark wood – this place gives us all the luxury vibes! Not only is the space gorgeous, but the refined menu offers plenty of fun dishes like the lobster truffle roll, kung pao pasta, Hawaiian ribeye, and even a martini tower!
