Jon Alexis, the owner of TJ’s Seafood and Malibu Poke, has done it again! This time in the form of Tex-Mex, with an epic resort-style patio and an indoor/outdoor bar heated or cooled year-round.

ESCONDIDO TEX-MEX PATIO
Escondido recently opened in Preston Hollow and has been wowing the community with its classic touch on Tex-Mex cuisine, strong drinks and epic patio. While there is definitely no shortage of Tex-Mex spots in Dallas, trust us when we say you should put this one on your list as it was delicious!
FOOD
On the menu you'll find Mexican classics like Chile Relleno, Quesadillas, Tortilla soup and Enchiladas (which are made to order and never pre-wrapped), as well as dishes with a twist like the Mexican Caprese Salad and Tex-Mex Pizza. Pro tip: get an order of the Elote Fritters and thank us later!
Since we are huge fans of Alexis’ seafood concepts we also had to try the shrimp fajitas and salmon tacos and, to no surprise, both were divine!
RESORT-STYLE PATIO
We visited Escondido on a cold and rainy day but that didn’t deter anyone from enjoying the patio. The space is covered and enclosed with beautiful orange drapery that provides a surprising amount of warmth, although the heaters definitely helped too! The drapes can also be pulled back on warmer days to let in the breeze, plus there are tons of fans too, making the patio enjoyable year round!
ATMOSPHERE
Mexico's vibrant culture is encapsulated in Escondido with bold colors, Mexican tile along the floor, folk art adorning the walls, and a warm and inviting atmosphere. We loved all the little touches, especially the cacti light fixtures! Above all, the vibe is high energy yet family-friendly, and sure to be a neighborhood hot spot. They also built in a convenient to-go window, making picking up orders a breeze!
Be sure to snag a reservation while you can! Right now they open at 3pm but lunch & brunch are coming soon!
