If you’re from Richardson, chances are you’ve heard of Grand Café. Since 1998, this family-run spot has been serving up homemade Middle Eastern comfort food and welcoming regulars who’ve been coming here for decades!

GRAND CAFÉ
Before moving to the U.S., owner Akhil worked as an editor and writer for radio and TV in Kuwait. Since his work was in Arabic, he knew it wouldn’t easily translate to a career here, so he trained in Mediterranean cooking before starting fresh in Texas with his wife. Grand Café has been a part of their lives ever since, with their kids growing up in the restaurant and now eight grandchildren, too! Over the years, loyal regulars have become like family, with some still dining here since the early 2000s!

WHAT TO ORDER
Grand Café is completely Halal and full of comforting dishes like shish kabob, kafta, falafel, and shish tawook. You’ll also find sandwiches, burgers, and platters, plus sweets like baklava paired with strong Turkish coffee! We tried:
🥩 Chicken and Kafta Platter
🍗 Philly Chicken Sandwich
🍔 Grand Burger
🥙 Shish Tawook Sandwich
🧆 Falafel Platter
Pro tip: Stop in Monday through Thursday from 11am to 2pm or Fridays from 11am to 4pm for free fries and a drink with any sandwich!
