We finally got to visit McRae's American Bistro, the super cute bistro next to the Dallas Arboretum, and already can’t wait to go back! The vibes, people, menu, and ambiance are so fun and we’re sharing all the deets!

MCRAE'S AMERICAN BISTRO

From the owners of long-time Greenville sports bar staple Stan’s Blue Note and the swanky Table 13 in Addison, the Dallas-born and-raised Mike McRae (who has made quite the footprint on the restaurant scene since the 70s) opened his self-titled restaurant back in his old stomping grounds!

Mike wanted to create a space for the neighborhood with a welcoming atmosphere, an approachable menu, handcrafted cocktails, and a diverse playlist curated by Mike himself with classic rock, country, pop, and more. It’s truly such a fun experience!

THE SPACE

Step inside an eclectic space adorned with chandeliers, vintage photos and art, string lights, and a stunning bar. The booths are cozy and the space is smaller, which gives it an NYC feel and adds to the ambiance! Head out back to the enclosed patio for a more casual environment with tvs too!

THE MENU

Find a diverse menu with everything from southern classics, handhelds, meats and fish, and a variety of neopolitan pizzas cooked in a pizza oven.

We tried:

🥚 Southern deviled eggs

🥓 Texas Twinkies (bacon-wrapped jalapeno)

🥖 Focaccia bread (a must!)

🥗 Granny Smith salad

🥩 Filet mignon with mashed potatoes

🦤 Grilled quail, a special recipe straight from Mike himself

☕️ Espresso martini

🍸 Blackberry cocktail

All in all, we had such a fab time and found ourselves sitting and enjoying the vibe and drinks for a while after we ate! It’s definitely a place to visit for a laid-back date night or with a small group of friends!
