The Dallas Wings just made their biggest move yet– selecting UConn star Paige Bueckers as the No.1 overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft! This is the first time in franchise history the Wings have held the top pick, and it’s a game-changer not just for the team – but for Dallas as a city!

A NEW ERA FOR DALLAS SPORTS

Fresh off a national championship and already one of the most followed college basketball athletes, Paige brings serious talent and a massive fan base to North Texas. Her arrival could mean big things: a new practice facility coming in 2026, more visibility for women’s sports, and– who knows– maybe even a rise in Wings watch parties!

THE NEXT BIG DUO

Paige is expected to pair up with four-time All-Star Arike Ogunbowale in the backcourt, alongside other new additions like Dijonai Carrington. Together, they’re already building what could be the most exciting lineup Dallas has seen in years– and a serious playoff contender.

WHY IT MATTERS

We’ve seen the Caitlin Clark effect in Indiana. Paige Bueckers could bring that same energy and momentum to Dallas, energizing a new generation of WNBA fans and changing the game for the Wings. And despite early rumors about not wanting to land in Dallas, Paige has made it clear that she’s all in!

DALLAS RECS FOR PAIGE

In recent interviews, she’s mentioned that she’s excited to be in a new city (and try Tex-Mex)! Some of our faves are Las PalmasMariano's Hacienda, and Joe T. Garcia's in Fort Worth!

Let’s give her a proper welcome to the city!
