As we get excited for restaurants that opened in 2024 and what’s to come in 2025, we also want to look back and reflect on what we had to bid farewell to! Which are you the most sad about?

BISOUS BISOUS

The beloved little bakery hidden in West Village was a gem for authentic and elaborate French pastries but sadly, the owner revealed she was still struggling from a 2018 cancer diagnosis and was closing shop to focus on her health.

Petra and the Beast

PETRA AND THE BEAST

Perhaps the biggest and most shocking closing came just days before the new year, with owner Misti Norris sharing that the new and bigger location had strayed from what originally made it so special. But she can’t wait to share what’s next!

BOULEVARDIER

A French bistro institution that sat in Bishop Arts for more than a decade, Boulevardier had already transformed into a new neighborhood spot by Mot Hai Ba’s owner who switched French for American cuisine in the similar cozy environment.

SANDWICH HAG

A year after receiving a James Beard nomination, the small walk-up window serving delicious banh mis, Sandwich Hag, closed its doors. Its Vietnamese coffee spot Chimlanh just recently reopened next door though!

CARTE BLANCHE

A bold restaurant for the Dallas dining scene, Carte Blanche brought us a French gastronomic tasting-menu only restaurant. What people became obsessed with though: the pastries and donuts which did back a recent comeback as La Rue Doughnuts in Trinity Groves.

Deep Ellum Brewing

DEEP ELLUM BREWING

What was one of the original microbreweries in Dallas shocked the brew community when it closed its taproom. You can still find the beers, including its signature Blonde, throughout Texas though!

TROMPO

The cult taco spot in Oak Cliff gained national notoriety when named America’s Best Taco by Bon Appetit in 2016. But in recent years, they hopped between multiple locations, with several concepts at one time that just sadly didn’t pan out, even after a big fundraiser to stay open. But maybe they’ll be back in some way in the future?!
