One of our favorite Italian restaurants was also one of our saddest goodbyes during the pandemic, Sassetta. But now it is back, just a neighborhood away, in Downtown Dallas! And yes, it’s still serving the Burnt Honey Pizza!
Updated April 2022
Sassetta opened in the Design District several years ago, by the Headington Group (of The Joule, Tango Room, CBD Provisions and more). It was a modern take on an Italian restaurant, and one of the most stunning restaurant spaces in Dallas with that huge red door, Mid Century Modern design, big windows and geometric designs. We loved it and were devastated when it didn’t return post-COVID, but it's finally back and in a new space!
DINING ROOM
Find Sassetta 2.0 in the former Americano restaurant space at the Joule Hotel. It’s a more elevated space with a long, illuminated bar, a darker dining room with brown booths, cane chairs, and a beautiful mountainous mural that pulls the whole room together. It’s not the same Sassetta (which we still miss), but it’s a new Sassetta and a great new addition to the Downtown dining scene!
ITALIAN CUISINE
While we don’t remember the former menu verbatim, Sassetta’s new menu offers the same overall pairing of contemporary, seasonal Italian starters and entrees with delicious seasonal cocktails! The meatballs are a must to start and we love the salads for something healthy and fresh. But the pizza and pasta dishes are really the reasons to go, especially for that Taleggio pizza with fontina, peppercorns and burnt honey! If you're in the mood for more of a classic taste, the margherita pizza is also incredible!
So whether you’re like us and loved Sassetta too, or if you’re looking for an upscale meets casual dining experience in Downtown, check out the new restaurant! And if it’s a beautiful day out, request the dining room that overlooks the street!
