Year Up

Year Up Dallas/Fort Worth seeks to prepare young adults to move from minimum wage jobs to meaningful careers through its intensive one-year workforce development program. The model utilizes a three-pronged approach: 1) 20+ weeks of technical skills training in living wage job fields such as IT, software development, and business operations provided through El Centro College; 2) professional skills development in core areas like business communication, time management, and public speaking provided by Year Up; and 3) six-month internships at one of Year Up’s 16 regional employer partners, including AT&T and Salesforce.

Year Up DFW is part of a national network of Year Up sites, and the model has shown significant impact through national research studies: 82% of graduates secure a job and/or enroll in additional school, and employed graduates are earning an average of $19.61/hour. Year Up DFW enrolls around 225 young adults annually.
