Travel through the jungles of the Yucatán and late nights out in Mexico City via this moody speakeasy! Ayahuasca is one of our favorite speakeasies in Dallas and was recently named one of the 42 Best Bars in America so we had to visit and share it for those who may not know about it yet!

AYAHUASCA CANTINA

Nestled behind Xaman Cafe on Jefferson Boulevard in Oak Cliff is Ayahuasca Cantina, a clandestine speakeasy that transports you to the heart of Mexico owned by Mexico natives Gerardo Barrera and Mauricio Gallegos. This moody hidden gem is adorned with catrina art, candelabras, and has a Dia de los Muertos vibe all year round.

They use thoughtfully sourced ingredients and are fully dedicated to preserving the essence of Mexican culture, which we admire so much!

Ayahuasca Cantina

ONE OF THE BEST BARS IN AMERICA?!

Ayahuasca has recently been listed on Esquire’s list of the 42 Best Bars in America and is the only spot in Dallas to be featured! Not only is the atmosphere intentionally curated to transport you to Mexico, but their service and unique food and drink offerings make it truly exceptional. It’s a must-visit for Dallasites and tourists alike!

THE MENU

Their menu is a tribute to pre-Hispanic ingredients and techniques that truly immerse you in Mexico’s culinary heritage. Explore their agave spirits – the Pulqueoma or the La Dona are our go-to’s, both made with traditional Mexican spirits. If you’re looking for something stronger, order a flight of sotol!

They also offer food to pair and we highly recommend beginning with the Ceviche Baja, followed by Enmolada De Cochinita, a pulled pork and pibil dish, and end your “trip” with Churros De Totomoxtle!

DETAILS

Ayahuasca is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5pm to midnight! To find it, go to Xaman Cafe and head back past the bathrooms for a dark and delicious Mexican culinary experience!
