With summer approaching, we all scream for ice cream! Dallas has no shortage on delicious ice cream shops, and we’ve rounded up our favorites from regular soft serve, to ice cream in a donut, to sundaes, shakes, and more. Enjoy during the warm weather or any other day...because who needs an excuse to have ice cream?!

ANDY'S FROZEN CUSTARD

Known for its custard concretes, Andy's has any custard + toppings variation you could want! Their Bootdaddy Concrete and their Ooey Gooey Concrete our two of our favorites, but they can also fill the center of your custard with any topping of your choice when you order the Jackhammer! Make sure to watch the custard machines churn out the custard as you wait for your sweet treat to be ready!

BALDO'S ICE CREAM

Baldo’s is a neighborhood favorite with unique flavors like cookie crunch, coffee oreo, peanut butter m&m, and strawberry cheesecake! And you can't forget it's half ice cream shop, half coffee shop. They're known for their ice cream flights of 3 or 6 cones, but they also offer affogatos and cast iron cookies made to order. They've got seasonal specials and dairy-free options, and if you're in the market for a warm drink instead, their coffees, teas and specialty drinks are offered all day long too!

BETH MARIE'S

This adorable old-timey ice cream shop has been serving delicious homemade ice cream since 1998! They opened their first location in the historic Denton Square, and have since expanded to other locations around the metroplex. They offer over 100 flavors (yes, 100!) of ice cream containing 14% butterfat, which makes it so rich and creamy! Try it in flavors like Texas whiskey, black cherry, Moon Pie, French toast...the list goes on. Plus, they have an antique soda fountain that makes delicious ice cream floats!

Botolino Gelato Artigianale

Looking for something a little bit lighter? Botolino's gelato is calling your name! They have classic fruity flavors and other more specialized flavors like key lime pie, lemon & rose sorbetto, stracciatella and peanut & jelly sandwich! They have a variety of dairy free options, too, not to mention popsicles (exclusive to the Greenville store), cakes, sundaes and affogatos!

BIGDASH

BigDash Ice Cream


If you’re looking for an ice cream gem off the beaten path, head to the Middle Eastern ice cream and bakery Big Dash! Not only do they serve a variety of flavors of ice cream, they also offer custard, the popular “green cookie” (pistacho cookie with cream filling), and more Middle Eastern classics. Don’t forget to try their famous Arabic ice cream, which went viral for how stretchy and cool it looks!

CAULDRON ICE CREAM

If you’re looking for a more unique and extremely Instagrammable ice cream experience, you need to visit Cauldron! Home of the one and only Puffle Cone, Cauldron has reinvented the carrier of our ice cream. Choose from their flavors that include Vietnamese coffee, sun moon and stars, earl grey lavender, and brown sugar milk tea. It’ll be stuffed into a fluffy waffle-like cone for a cool, over-the-top ice cream experience!

COW TIPPING CREAMERY

Cow Tipping Creamery actually began in Austin as a food truck, but the owner of Cane Rosso and Zoli’s loved it so much, he wanted to bring it to Dallas! He did just that several years ago when it opened in East Dallas. That location has since closed, but they are open in Frisco and Fort Worth! Their ice cream is simple, but their creations are not. You choose between vanilla, chocolate or the weekly special soft serve ice cream and then add on all the toppings from caramel to marshmallows to brownies to lemon curd and more!

HOWDY HOMEMADE

Home to the first ever Dr Pepper Chocolate Chip ice cream, Howdy Homemade is an awesome family-owned ice cream shop that prides itself on its community culture and employs people with special needs! Beyond their business model, they also make delicious ice cream in over 30 flavors, including some really creative flavors from Girl Scouts Thin Mints to Sour Patch Kids to Avocado! JENI'S ICE CREAM

Jeni's Victory Park


As the newest ice cream shop on the list, the opening of Jeni's in early 2021 is nothing to be quiet about! The Ohio-based company has over 40 'scoop shops' nationwide and prides itself on its ice cream's uniquely smooth texture and buttercream body. Their one-of-a-kind flavors are available in pints at local grocery stores, but we strongly recommend visiting their store in Deep Ellum with the classic Jeni's Ice Cream light bulb sign above the door for you Instagram moment!

MELT ICE CREAMS

Melt Ice Cream is our happy place! This yellow-themed ice creamery based in Fort Worth has a happy motto and a colorful facade to welcome you in. And their ice cream keeps you hanging around! They introduce four new flavors to their menu every 6 weeks and also offer a special flavor every weekend. Their 8 “always” flavors include cookies and cream, vanilla, chocolate, vegan chocolate (heavenly), strawberry, salt lick and a Cup of Texas.

Located right at the end of Lowest Greenville, Milk & Cream is a culmination of great ice cream and instagrammable sweet treats. They offer unique flavors like banana pudding, cookie butter, cereal milk, cookie monster ice cream and all the toppings you can dream of! But what they’re really known for? Serving their ice cream in…A DONUT... and with cereal toppings!

Located right at the end of Lowest Greenville, Milk & Cream is a culmination of great ice cream and Instagrammable sweet treats. MILWAUKEE JOE'S

This spot has a story just as sweet as its ice cream! The shop was actually founded by a former Federal Agent, Joe Libowsky, who left his job and his hometown of Milwaukee to pursue his dream of opening an ice cream shop. Since then, the store has gained a cult following for its delicious ice cream! They use fresh, local ingredients to create small-batch unique flavors like Almond Joy, black raspberry truffle, New York Cheesecake, and more. Our absolute favorite is the Dr. Pepper ice cream -- a Texan's dream!

PARLOR’S ICE CREAM

Parlor's Ice Creams


Owners and makers, Kellie and Brandon, use as many organic and sustainable ingredients from the Dallas area as possible, and the ice creams are 100% grass-fed milk and use pasture-raised eggs! They even source, mix, age, pasteurize, and freeze themselves, so they oversee every part of the process to uphold their quality standards. Fan faves flavors are Milk & Cookies made with locally baked chocolate chip cookies, Salted Caramel with house-made caramel, and Horchata!

PURE MILK & HONEY

Not sure how you want to enjoy your ice cream? Pure Milk & Honey has you covered! Choose from shakes, sundaes, cones, cups, and cookie sandwiches -- you can also indulge in this ice cream so many ways! AND you can do that knowing it’s good for you! Their signature flavors honey, chocolate, and pistachio are all naturally sweetened with locally-sourced honey from Bonton Farms. They also offer dairy-free options and also have over 20 sauces and topping to add on - including honeycomb!

SUGAR PINE CREAMERY

Sugar Pine Creamery in Plano is a soft server-ery with 6 rotating flavors, 2 of which are always dairy-free. They’re always serving up the most interesting creations like chili lime canteloupe, sweet corn, guava cream cheese and churro. They also have a long list of teas including boba, for an extra treat!

THE DOLLY LLAMA

All your favorite sweets are now available in Uptown at The Dolly Llama with their extensive menu of ice cream, waffles, and more. This LA-based company is bringing specialty waffles, crazy flavor combinations, and lots of sugar to the Dallas' dessert scene. The mission of Dolly Llama is to prove waffles are not just for breakfast! There are waffle sandwiches, shakes, and build-your-own options. Topping options include Oreos, M&M's, cookies, sprinkles. Nutella, and many more -- sounds like a sugar rush to us!

Ice cream, Ice cream! West Village is a whole lot sweeter with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. With over 40 flavors, there is something for everyone. This is the perfect sweet treat for non-dairy eaters too. Their vegan ice cream line has flavors like chocolate chip cookie dough, passion fruit, or oat milk brown sugar chunk.

ZERO GRADI

You may know Melbourne-based gelateria's sister restaurant, 400 Gradi! Located right next door in the Arts District, Zero Gradi is the perfect stop after a day of museum hopping. The colorful space features stunning aqua-colored tile and fun neon signs. Their Italian treats are the star of the show -- try gelato and sorbetto flavors like basil, lemon-rosemary, hazelnut or pistachio, and even semifreddo ice cream cakes! They also have a coffee bar serving Italian espressos!
