EL ALMA

Two friends, restaurateur Carlos Rivero and chef Alma Alcocer, started El Alma as a way to provide a fresh approach to Mexican cuisine. Both Rivero and Alcocer worked at Jeffreys and eventually joined forces to blend Alcocer’s training with her Mexico City roots to create El Alma.

ATMOSPHERE

This multi-tiered structure provides a funky vibe, welcoming locals and tourists to enjoy a night out with friends and family. Downstairs offers table top seating or you can venture towards the cozy bar in the back. Or climb up the stone staircase, which was built into a natural rock formation embellished with tropical foliage and a waterfall. The staircase leads to their rooftop patio experience where you can sip on a marg and enjoy the view of downtown Austin.

ON THE MENU

Their bold, flavorful fare is always fresh and always delicious. They serve Mexican classics like enchiladas and tacos, but also fancy dishes like the Duck Relleno and the amazing ceviche. Drinks range from classic margs to Mexican old-fashioneds. And if you have room, don’t forget to try their coffee tequila tres leches cake.

HAPPY HOUR

El Alma hosts their happy hours every day (yes, that means weekends too!) from 3 to 6 p.m. Enjoy $5 cervezas and jacked sangrías, $6 margs and queso, $8 queso, and more!

If you haven’t been to El Alma yet, add it to your list and get ready for delicious food and great vibes!
