If you’re looking for a fun spring break plan, North Texas Safari Park in Bonham is such a unique day trip! This family-run safari park is a little more than an hour north of DFW and lets you get closer to animals than you normally could at a traditional zoo!

NORTH TEXAS SAFARI PARK

North Texas Safari Park is operated by Brandie and Terry, who have spent most of their lives working with exotic animals. They’ve been raising and breeding them since 2006 and are members of organizations like the Zoological Association of America that support conservation and endangered species programs!

ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS

One of the coolest parts about visiting is how interactive everything is. Instead of just looking at animals from far away, we were able to get close enough to feed and pet them! Some of the animals you can expect to see:

🦒 Giraffes

🦫 Capybaras

🐐 Goats

🦥 Sloths

🐒 Red ruffed lemurs

🦘 Kangaroos

🐪 Camels

🦩 Ostriches and more!

P.S. You might even get the chance to hold a baby kangaroo joey in the gift shop when one is available (our personal fave)!

TRAIN RIDE THROUGH THE SAFARI

Hop on the safari train for $5 to ride around the park and spot animals like deer, zebras, ostriches, and capybaras. When the train isn’t running, you can also drive your own car through and feed animals right from your window!

ADMISSION AND DETAILS

Tickets are purchased at the entrance or through their website and include access to the drive-through and walk-through areas plus a cup of feed with free refills. Encounters with lemurs, sloths, and capybaras are $24.99 per person (includes feeding them).

Their spring break hours this weekend run Friday-Sunday 9am-3:30pm and normal hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-3:30pm, making it a great weekend day trip! Plus, they host field trips and birthday parties, making it a fun spot for group outings!
