MATT'S RANCHO MARTINEZ

Matt Martinez first opened Matt’s El Rancho in Austin in 1952, now another beloved institution. And in 1985, the sister restaurant, Matt’s Rancho Martinez was born, now with 3 restaurant locations around DFW: Lakewood, Garland, Royse City! And fun fact, it was inducted into the Texas restaurant hall of fame in 2019.

THE FOOD

Serving up all the Tex-Mex favs, Matt’s offers everything from enchiladas and tacos, to fajitas and flautas. They also have an entire chicken fried steak section from Country to Tampiqueño style too. If you’re looking for something more unique and with a spicy twist, try their Famous Chile Relleno that will leave you wanting more!

THE BOB ARMSTRONG DIP

If you haven’t yet had this queso concoction, it should certainly be on your Texas foodie bucket list! You can find it on other restaurant menus now too but Matt’s created the original, all thanks to Bob Armstrong, a regular who one day asked for something a little different.

The result: chili con queso with a scoop of guac, sour cream and beef taco meat. It’s delicious!

SPECIALS

Stop by Matt’s Monday-Friday during happy hour from 3-6PM for $1.50 off margs and wine carafes discounted to the price of a single glass. Select appetizers are also $1.50 off including that Bob Armstrong Dip!

The historic Lakewood location is super inviting, with bright booths and colorful walls that give it a fun yet comfortable and relaxed feel. The various rooms offer seating for groups of all sizes, from the large dining room to the quaint outdoor patio. They even have an area for private events.
