Frisco has officially broken ground on Grand Park, a massive urban oasis that will eventually span 1,011 acres, stretching from the Dallas North Tollway all the way to Lake Lewisville. Once complete, it will dwarf NYC’s Central Park by 200 acres, officially putting Frisco on the map for one of the most ambitious green spaces in the country!

GRAND PARK: PHASE 1
Construction is now underway for the first 58-acre slice, known as Civic Park, which is expected to open in Fall 2027. The city is going all out with high-end amenities designed to rival the best parks in the world:
🚣 Arrowhead Pond: A massive lake nearly 11x the size of an Olympic pool (+ kayaking!)
🎭 Entertainment: A new amphitheater for live performances, splash pads for the kids, and spaces for community gatherings.
🥾 Trail Network: Over 20 miles of uninterrupted trails connecting the city
🏓 Sports: Plus a skate park, pickleball courts, and sand volleyball courts

IMPORTANT TRAIL CLOSURE
Starting June 1st 2026, the 2.2-mile Big Bluestem Trail is closing for 18 months as it becomes part of the active construction zone.
Instead, head over to the Iron Horse Trail (5001 Cotton Gin Rd.), offering over 3 miles of beautiful, unpaved natural trails that are still open for exploring!
WHY THE WAIT?
This land has been a big battle for the city for over two decades. It took years of behind-the-scenes legal work and a multi-million dollar cleanup of an old industrial plant to make the site safe for the public. The city even passed up massive paydays from developers who wanted to build apartments on the land, choosing instead to preserve it entirely for nature and recreation.
THE VISION
Grand Park will eventually serve as the central hub for North Texas outdoors, designed to be accessible for all ages and abilities. Is this a win for Frisco and North Texas, or what are your thoughts?
