This month has brought a ton of new restaurant openings! Through all the excitement, we want to make sure we remember the tried and true, beloved dives scattered around the metroplex. Cosmo's is one of our favorites for a retro atmosphere and surprisingly delicious Asian food! A go-to for great and affordable, not-too-fancy cocktails!
Updated March 2022

Cosmo’s sits at Live Oak and Skillman, and its black tinted windows makes it hard to spot if not for the red awning displaying its name. The red light space is decorated with eclectic mid-century modern furniture like turquoise chairs, bubble lights, plush bar top seating and geometric art!

THE BACK STORY

Cosmo’s opened in 2000, with the aim by the brother sister duo who opened the restaurant, to create a weird retrograde space, with really good martinis and pizza! Vietnamese cuisine was introduced too, and they’re now known for having some of the best in the city!

ITALIAN & VIETNAMESE CUISINE

Pizza or pho! The Vietnamese menu is the creation of General Manager, Jackson Tran, who cooks up his family’s recipes. You can try the banh mi, the family beef recipe, or the (very limited) oxtail pho, or you can keep it more basic with chicken or shrimp. Order the steamed dumplings and kimchi tater tots to start and ask about specials!

For pizza, there’s Greek, deluxe, spicy buffalo or garden, or you can make your own. But whatever you do, be prepared to be patient for your food. It takes a while!

DRINKS MENU

It’s no surprise the cosmo is the first item listed on the menu. The rest is filled with the classics, most priced at $11-$12. We recommend any of the martinis, including the lychee or the espresso, which is made with Vietnamese coffee and is on short supply each night.

HOURS OF OPERATION

Cosmo’s is open daily from 5 PM - 2 AM and offers a late night menu from 11 PM -1:15 AM with egg rolls, chicken wings, tacos, and pizza by the slice!

So, if you love a dive or a low key Dallas local spot, Cosmo’s is a great place to keep in your back pocket! And, you can hop over to Lakewood Landing for a divey night all around!
