Beans & Bubbles

Neighborhood: Frisco

Cuisine: Coffee shop

About: From the team behind Frisco BaseCamp Restaurant and Bar, this spot is bringing a taste of Nepal to the DFW coffee scene, serving specialty coffee, bubble tea, boba drinks, pastries, and ice cream. Their mission is to bring some of the best flavors of the Himalayas to Dallas, in the form of coffee drinks!

The 101: We love the subtle nods to Nepal throughout the menu here, like the 8848 Latte (the height of Mount Everest in meters), Himalayan Ice Cap, and Bouda Bliss Latte. It’s such a cozy spot perfect for a sweet treat – there are plenty on the menu!

Meridian

Meridian

Neighborhood: The Village

Cuisine: Contemporary

About: The Village’s signature restaurant, Meridian, has officially reopened. The space has been completely reimagined with a revamped menu, a new executive chef, and refreshed interiors! Led by new Executive Chef Eduardo Osorio, the menu fuses Italian, Mediterranean, and New American influences, using locally sourced ingredients and live-fire cooking for bold, layered flavors.

The 101: We’re so happy Meridian is back! The reimagined restaurant is more laid back, making it an ideal spot for everything from date nights to evening drinks. We tried and loved the Foie & Sea Island Cornbread, Pork Ragu Verde, and the Truffle the Night Martini!

Prince Street Pizza

Neighborhood: Henderson

Cuisine: Pizza

About: This cult-favorite New York City pizza joint has opened their first location in Texas, in the Dallas Henderson neighborhood. Known for their handcrafted sauces made fresh daily, Sicilian-style “SoHo Squares,” and original Neapolitan pies, they even use a water filtration process that replicates NYC’s water to get the perfect crust texture.

The 101: We’ve been waiting for this one, and can confirm it’s worth the hype! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but their signature Spicy Spring pizza with fra diavolo sauce and thick-cut pepperoni is our fave. You’ll also want to get the “Not Ranch”, aka a garlic parm sauce for dipping. We’re thrilled it’s open late, too, perfect for those post-night-out pizza cravings. (Featured header image)

La Ventana

Taqueria La Ventana

Neighborhood: Henderson

Cuisine: Mexican

About: This lively, colorful taco spot has opened its fourth Dallas location, housed in the original Velvet Taco location. They’re serving their small but mighty menu of authentic Mexico City street food, including street-style tacos, burritos, bowls, salads, and fresh handmade tortillas and salsas.

The 101: For a lively Mexican food and margs night, La Ventana is one of our favorite spots! Their other locations tend to get very busy, so we’re thrilled to have another one – especially on Henderson. Go for $2 tacos on Tuesdays, and wash it all down with a mango marg!

Tavern Collective (Tavern on Meridian)

Neighborhood: Las Colinas

Cuisine: Global

About: Part modern pub, part social hub, The Tavern Collective blends a globally inspired menu — think Detroit-style pizzas, Cashew Butter Chicken, loaded burgers, and shareable apps — with a whimsical atmosphere featuring steampunk-inspired design, arcade games, throwback playlists, and even a mascot (JD the French Bulldog).

The 101: This spot does it all, from burgers and wings to brunch favorites like Nutella French toast and chilaquiles, plus a great cocktail menu and even a “Dry Bar” menu for non-drinkers! It’s a great addition to Las Colinas, and we love that they offer daily happy hour and late-night specials.

CLOSINGS

Elaine's Kitchen

Be Home Soon

This cozy neighborhood spot with an ever-changing menu had its last supper on October 25th, with the owner citing rising costs.

Elaine’s Kitchen

This beloved South Dallas Caribbean restaurant shut its doors on October 18th, after almost 40 years in business. The nephew of the original owner, Elaine, stated it was ultimately time following her passing a few years ago. We’ll seriously miss the patties and plantains. (Pictured)

Ella

This stunning bistro and speakeasy just opened in July of this year, and it seems they’ve already shut down. Online, it appears the owner stated they were “forced to close”, while another source states they were behind on rent.

Origin Kitchen + Bar

In a devastating loss for the Dallas healthy food scene, especially the gluten-free community, Origin announced that their last day of service will be October 26th. The owners stated that they were thankful for the 13 years it was open, but that their lease was coming to an end and they wanted to focus on other things.
