About: Founded in Korea in 1995, Bb.q has now opened a location right here in Dallas, right across from Voodoo Doughnut on Greenville Avenue. They’re open every day until midnight, serving fried chicken that blends authentic Korean tastes with Texas tradition.

The 101: Come hungry for some of the best fried chicken you’ve ever had! Their menu also boasts a variety of authentic Korean dishes, all bursting with bold flavors. The new Greenville location is super casual and quick, making it the perfect lunch date or a delicious meal delivered on a night in!

Benny’s Bagels

About: Located on Skillman Ave, this bagel store has taken Dallas by storm with its commitment to making quality bagels for the community. Their fresh, quality ingredients and bagels keep people coming back for more – check it out as early as 6:30am on most days and until 3pm! 

The 101: With a plethora of skilled bakers hand-crafting excellent bagels, Benny’s Bagels has quickly one of our favorite bagel spots in DFW. The menu has bagel packages, open-face melts to satisfy a lunch craving, wraps, and a local favorite -- bagel breakfast sandwiches at the ready! We also love that they are Kosher!

About: This hidden wine cave was previously members-only, and is now open to the public Wednesdays through Sundays. It’s located underneath the beloved Hotel Vin, serving world-class wines via a high-tech self-serving system. Reservations are required. Learn more

The 101: If you are a wine lover, this subterranean lounge is the perfect place for you! This underground cave getaway is one of the coolest bars we’ve been to, and the swanky decor and music make it perfect for a romantic night out. (Featured header image)

About: The team behind The Henry and Flowerchild has just launched their latest venture in the Design District! This unique venue features a laid-back atmosphere, an open floor plan, live music, and a rooftop patio. Learn more

The 101: This was one of our most anticipated openings this summer, as we love all the other Fox Restaurant Group concepts! Enjoy classic and amped-up comfort foods, craft cocktails, local beers, wine on tap, frozen drinks, and mocktail options with a side of a stunning view!

About: This new entertainment bar introduces a unique concept to Dallas: surfing! They use CityWave technology to make surfing accessible without an ocean. They offer surf lessons, pickleball courts, and a global menu inspired by surf destinations. Learn more

The 101: The highly anticipated Goodsurf is such a unique addition to Dallas! The cutting-edge wave pool is so much fun, especially in the summer. Our favorites from the menu include smash burgers, Hawaiian loco moco, and popcorn chicken served in a waffle cone! They also have a great beer list and cocktail menu with optional THC infusions.

About: Johnny's Chicken, founded in 2020 in College Park, Georgia, by reality TV star Crystal Renay, her ex-husband and singer Ne-Yo, and Karlie Redd, has now expanded to Dallas after its major success in Georgia and Atlanta! True to its name, they specialize in chickens and waffles with a twist. Learn more

The 101: We love all the unique waffle flavor options like buttermilk, pecan, red velvet, or even strawberry waffles! The space is super lively on the weekends, open til 1am with live music.

About: This local general store serves snacks, coffee, and tea in a Texan-inspired space. Find it on Belt Line Road near Addison, open from 7am to 5:30pm most days and on Sundays from 7am to 4pm. 

The 101: This adorable spot goes above and beyond a general store! If you were a fan of Foxtrot before they closed, this is a definite must-try. It’s truly a one-stop shop for Instagrammable photos, incredible matcha, delicious snacks, and locally brewed coffee!

About: Brought to you by the owners of the famous Katy Trail Ice House, this vintage-style pub blends moody NYC vibes with Texas-style food and drinks. It’s located next door to Ice House and is open daily. Learn more

The 101: As fans of Katy Trail Ice House, we couldn’t wait to try this place. It’s much different than Ice House, but we love it just as much. The intimate tavern is dark and cozy, offering a perfect contrast to the lively patio haven of the Ice House next door! We felt like we had been transported to NYC!

About: Born in Arkansas, Mamaka Bowls is a female-owned gem known for its chill vibe, surf-themed decor, and mouthwatering smoothie bowls! The shop started as a mom-and-daughter duo selling smoothie bowls out of their house and has since transformed into a national phenomenon.

The 101: A few of our team members went to college in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where Mamaka began, and were jumping for joy about their arrival in Dallas! You truly can’t go wrong with any of the fun combos on the menu. Not only are their smoothie bowls divine, but their merch and the space will keep us coming back!

About: Mar Y Sol Cocina Latina is owned by Lombardi Family Concepts– who runs Taverna and Toulouse in Knox Henderson. The lively space features a Latin flair, with live DJs are also playing during the later part of the evening!

The 101: Mar y Sol Cocina Latina takes you on a culinary adventure through the vibrant and diverse flavors of Latin America! The space, inspired by the beauty of nature, is stunning, and the menu is full of over-the-top presentations too.

About: Otaru is a no-reservation needed high-end sushi location with an 11-course omakase in Bishop Arts with great fresh flavors, quality nigiri, and incredible handrolls.

The 101: This tasting menu is an incredible deal for what you get – we were truly blown away by the authentic experience! Otaru is the sister spot to Hill’s Kome, it does not need any reservations unless you and your party plan to order the 17-course omakase at MKT price.

About: This new spot is led by Tiffany Derry, a celebrity chef who has been recognized by Food Network and James Beard. The revolves around a wood-fired grill, with a menu full of regional Italian dishes, seasonal ingredients, and handmade pastas.

The 101: With such a renowned chef, our expectations for Radici were high and we were so impressed with our experience! You can’t go wrong with any of the pastas, and the focaccia and tiramisu are a must too.

The 101: We seriously tried one of everything here – hot honey butter biscuits, blueberry sausage biscuits, fried okra, cheddar tots, cheese grits, and the veggie chicken options. Everything is packed with flavor and goes above and beyond your typical breakfast biscuit sammie!

The 101: This creamy oat milk froyo rivals traditional dairy ice cream! We truly couldn’t tell the difference, and loved the toppings bar with over 20 to choose from. The THC-infused milkshakes are definitely something we hadn’t seen before in Dallas, and such a fun treat if that’s your thing!

About: Taboo Lounge located in the Design District hosts a colorful decor for its patrons and supplies the classic bar food cuisine like wings, burgers, tacos, and more! 

The 101: Whether you are looking for a gameday place to hangout, a night on the town, or brunch, Taboo Lounge is the place to be!  Their location in the heart of the Design District is a must-visit as well as the epitome of an Instagrammable spot.

The Sicilian Butcher & Baker

Neighborhood: Fort Worth

Cuisine: Italian

About: Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, these two sister concepts opened next door to one another at Fort Worth's Alliance Town Center. The concept is led by celebrity chef Joey Maggiore, and features handmade pastas, a meatball bar, and a build-your-own cannoli station.

The 101: When we saw this spot serving fresh pasta out of a massive wheel of parmesan cheese, we were sold! The menu is extensive full of Italian American eats, and true to its name the meat selection here is out of this world. Don't skip the drinks like spritzes, and desserts like tiramisu either! The space is decked out in red tiles and fun photos, feeling like you're in a small Italian kitchen.

Tierra a Taza

Neighborhood: Downtown Dallas

Cuisine: Mexican, Cafe

About: Originally starting off as a coffee catering business post-pandemic, this great cater-centric business has set roots in a prime location in Dallas in the heart of the Arts District, on the bottom floor of the AMLI Fountain Place Apartment. They are open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 2pm and Sundays 8am to 2pm. 

The 101: This is the perfect spot to grab a unique coffee drink to go! We love the range the menu offers, from classic artisan coffee to Mexican-inspired beverages. Try the horchata, Mexican Vanilla, and Dulce de Leche lattes, or a refreshing drink like lemonades and agua fresca – perfect for the summer heat!

Leela's Summer House Trip to the Med Pop-Up


Aguasol at Rye

Neighborhood: Lower Greenville

Cuisine: Mexican-Caribbean

About: Rye is taking a summer break and transforming into Aguasal, a Mexican-Caribbean restaurant offering dinner during the week for their patrons. With a 90-minute reservation, guests can indulge in unlimited plates from the kitchen, including bottomless mimosas. The cost is $35 for adults and $20 for kids.

The 101: Rye's new pop-up gives us all the White Lotus vibes! With brunch service on the weekends in a 90-minute style resort treatment and plates of arepas, mojo pork belly lettuce wraps, and coconut fried shrimp, this is a must-try!

Leela’s A Trip to the Med

Neighborhood: Lower Greenville

Cuisine: Mediterranean

About: This classic pop-up in Leelas will be open from June 20th till the end of summer, inspired by the Mediterranean! This pop-up will be at all three locations in Dallas, featuring colorful decor and a special menu. Learn more

The 101: This spot feels like a vacay without leaving DFW! Delight in pizzas and cocktails inspired by Italian, Croatian, French, Spanish, and Greek cuisine. Sipping on a spritz here is a must this summer, so check it out before it’s gone! (Pictured)

Stephan Courseau brings to life another restaurant, adding to the sophisticated and cosmopolitan feel of his other neighborhood restaurants—Le Bilboquet, Knox Bistro, and Georgie. This restaurant will blend the flavors of Southeast Asia and the techniques found in French cooking! (Pictured)

Brothers and co-owners of Namo, Brandon and Henry Cohanim, are now opening up Mamani. This restaurant will be a moder European fine dining installation in the redeveloped area called the “Quadrangle.”

Rose Cafe is set to be an Asian-inspired breakfast and lunch spot that is an easy walk from the Katy trail – perfect for post-walk or run!

Among other restaurants hitting the Quadrangle in Dallas, Written By the Seasons is extending its reach from Bishop Arts outwards and opening up its second European-inspired restaurant, with a rotating menu of dishes made with seasonal ingredients.
