BACKGROUND

Chef Shine Tamaoki was born in Japan and attended UNT to study business, during which he began working at sushi restaurants and learning the craft of making sushi. He later started working under the executive chef at Nobu Dallas, where he honed in on the art of sushi for 7 years. He always dreamt of opening his own sushi restaurant that makes sushi approachable, and Pearl was born!

FOOD

The menu focuses on seasonality and everything is meant to be shared family style! Find starters like oysters and Osetra Caviar, dishes like Diver Scallop Crudio, A5 Kobe filet, and Japanese fish and chips, plus a large selection of fresh Nigiri and Sashimi! They also do monthly Omakase dinners, however, if requested you can enjoy Chef Shine’s daily creations!

WHAT WE GOT

- Tuna tartare
- Smoked yellowtail
- Torched salmon roll
- Baked crab roll

DRINKS

Sip on classic cocktails and unique drinks that highlight Japanese flavors like the White Pearl with a house-made lychee puree or the PurPearl with butterfly pea flower syrup and a shot of yuzu juice. They also have sake, beer, and wine!

SPACE

The dining room is stunning and intimate with under 10 tables and a gorgeous sushi bar that seats 9. We were in awe of the space with its ornate details, velvet booths and gold-accented walls. Our favorite part though was the unique art installation hanging from the ceiling that resembles a swimming fish!
