The Stoneleigh P, or ‘P’s’ or ‘The P,’ as people call it, has a place in a lot of Dallasites’ hearts as a landmark dive bar offering a great atmosphere, good burgers, magazines to read and cheap drinks for more than 50 years!

It closed sadly after the father-daughter owners weren’t able to resign a lease with their landlord, but they found a new home on Lemmon Ave….and it’s now open!

THE STONELEIGH P

Opened in 1973, the name came from the former tenant of the space it overtook, the Stoneleigh Pharmacy. Over the years, it became known as a no-frills place (and absolutely no Mariah Carey Christmas until Dec. 1), where people from all walks of life could hang out, including journalists, neighborhood locals, and Luke and Owen Wilson.

THE NEW SPACE

While Stoneleigh P’s presence at its former location was iconic, it had already reinvented itself once after a fire in 1980, and we are sure that it will do so again with its Lemmon Ave location. It takes over the former Eggcellent Cafe in between Douglas and Wycliff Aves.

THE VIBES

The vibes were still strong! It was packed with people, catching up with each other, playing pool, watching sports, laughing in a private group dining room to celebrate a bday, enjoying the fall weather on the Lemmon Ave-facing patio, or reading a magazine from their giant stack at the front of the bar.

THE BURGER

A burger that’s been popular for decades, the Stoneleigh P’s is famous for its pumpernickel bun with lettuce, tomato, red onion, Creole mustard, garlic mayo.

Or try Mike’s BBQ Burger, Served on a brioche bun with Badger Snacks smoked pepper BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, pickled jalapeños, garlic mayo and an onion ring!

STOP BY AND SAY HI AGAIN!

So stop by soon to check out the new space and support this iconic dive bar in its new home so that it can see another 50+ years!
