CAMELBACK MOUNTAIN

CAMELBACK MOUNTAIN

This iconic mountain is unbelievably beautiful, but it's hikes are not for the faint of heart. With an elevation of 2,704 feet, the hikes on Camelback are certainly considered advanced endeavors. They are definitely worth the sweat, as you are treated to stellar views of both Scottsdale and Phoenix the entire way.

Echo Canyon is one of the most popular trails, but don't be fooled by its short one mile distance, it is a difficult trek up to the summit. A little over one mile long, Cholla is the ideal hike for some vibrant valley views.

TOM'S THUMB

TOM'S THUMB

As a major trailhead of the McDowell Mountains, Tom's Thumb is quite a sight to see. Not only does it get its name from its unique appearance looking like a giant finger point towards the sky, but it is named after Tom Kreuser, the first member of the Arizona Mountaineer club.

Ascend 1300 feet in just two miles and be on the lookout for wildlife from birds to mule deer. Take in the panoramic views of Scottsdale and feel free to bring your furry friend on this dog friendly trail!

LOST DOG WASH TRAIL

It is completely doable to cover the 4.5 miles in just two hours on this leisurely stroll through the desert. Besides the natural desert wash, the main attraction of this hike is the sea of wildflowers that cover the windy trail.

Just like the name, dogs are definitely allowed on this hike, as long as they play well with others! You can expect to share the trail with other hikers taking their dogs on this outdoor adventure as well.
