Not only is The Mexican in Dallas one of the most romantic restaurants in our book, but in UNESCO’s book, it’s also one of the most beautiful as it received a coveted Prix Versailles award in December!

If you're not familiar, The Mexican is an upscale Mexican restaurant located in the Design District. Dining here feels like a trip to Mexico City, from the gorgeous dining room and two patios to the elevated tacos and inventive margaritas. It's a bucket list spot in Dallas for date night or a special occasion!
THE Prix Versailles AWARD
If you’re wondering what a Prix Versailles award even is, it’s the World Architecture and Design Award at UNESCO, and it’s a big deal! Only 18 winners in the entire world were selected in 2023 for the restaurant category, including The Mexican, and it was the only winner in the US!!
THE MEXICAN’S DESIGN
So what about The Mexican’s design makes it a standout? Across 15,000 sq ft, all furniture, art and materials come from the owner’s hometown of Monterrey, Mexico. Everything is meticulously decorated and stunning. Don’t miss the illuminated bar, and the Dia de los Muertos-inspired atrium next to the bathrooms!
A TEQUILA SOMMELIER
The Mexican has their own sommelier called a Catador. He can bring you hand-picked selection of tequilas and mezcals to try, tell you all about them and even teach you how to properly taste the tequila!

PS there is a GORGEOUS private cigar lounge at the back of the restaurant called the Monterrey Club - it’s members only or you can purchase day passes for $75!
