Frito pie, iced cold beer, an expansive patio and an ode to any retro car lover out there, Thunderbird Station is a super cool spot to add to your list, especially if you’d like to have a bit more grease in your life!

Thunderbird Station

Thunderbird opened during COVID, not ideal timing by any means, but perfect for those seeking outdoor spaces to meet up at. The owner, who brought us Double Wide and Single Wide, brings us another dive bar, located right across from DW, in a renovated retro gas station! It's a go-to for good time!

Atmosphere

You can’t miss the star feature: a giant triangle overhang jutting out from the original gas station’s ceiling with an illuminated thunderbird logo on top. Surrounding the patio are blue picnic tables, artfully arranged oil barrels, and dessert plants. Inside, you’ll find a lot of car parts being incorporated into the design. Unlike its sister spots, Double and Single Wide, it has a more refined feel to it... but still with that feeling of nostalgia. It's the perfect place to enjoy their trivia nights, DJ's, and karaoke nights each week!

FOOD & DRINKS

This is the place for really good drinks! They are super creative - our favorite is the G-TEA-O, a spiked iced tea. There’s also a Lemon Cream Pie, a caramel and vanilla drink and the Junkyard Dog, a dairy meets root beer based cocktail. Essentially, everything has a bit of a throwback to it! And the same goes for the food! It's not anything to write home about, but that’s the point. The restaurant serves chips and dips, Frito pie, hotdogs, chili, and white bread sandwiches, reminiscent of the simpler menu of the 50’s.

We love going for the separated patio, which is perfect for starting the night out in Deep Ellum, or for a sunny day out! It’s also a great spot to go before grabbing a YooHoo YeeHaw at Double Wide across the street or post sand volleyball game at Sandbar! Visit for happy hour weekdays from 4-7 PM for $3-$5 drinks or for reverse happy hour weeknights and Sunday nights from 11 PM - 2 AM!
