We recently stopped by Bread Winners Cafe on McKinney Ave for a breakfast meeting and were reminded how adorable it is... and is perfect if you love NOLA vibes!

Updated March 2021

Bread Winner’s first opened in 1994, making this year its 28th year of business! The Uptown house on the corner of McKinney and N Hall is the original location, and it was claimed by the owners, who had long loved the building, once it went up for sale. Almost three decades later there are now four locations and a significant catering business!

Atmosphere

Bread Winner’s has a menu of salads, sandwiches, burgers, and other traditional cafe items. Sit inside the house that feels like you’re in someone’s living room in New Orleans, or sit outside in the French courtyard, complete with brick and hanging plants. Or you can sit on the patio that spills onto the the street too. Wherever you choose, it’s very charming!

Brunch

Their bread and butter, no pun intended, is their brunch. Start with house made muffins, avocado toast or buttermilk biscuits, and then try one of their three specialties: fried chicken and waffles, croque madame or French ham benedict. If you like sweet, indulge in the banana nut bread french toast or cinnamon roll french toast. To drink, enjoy a bloody mary, a frozen pineapple upside mimosa, or an aperol spritz.

Quarter Bar

If you want the good times to keep rolling, head next door to Quarter Bar! This is their NOLA inspired bar with several rooms to roam, a rooftop, karaoke, and more. It’s one of our favorite spots for a consistently good time that always has a table available.

And if you love those concepts, the Bread Winner’s fam also owns Harlowe MXM, Henry’s Majestic and Atwater Alley!
