We’ve heard endless positive things about the gem in Richardson that is Sara's Market and Bakery, serving some of the best pita bread in Dallas! We needed to see and taste it for ourselves! After a great experience, we are so excited to share Sara’s with you all, and can’t wait to go back for round two soon as well!
Updated December 2020
Sara’s Market and Bakery was established in 1998, off 75 and has become a staple for both specialty Mediterranean fare and products. In fact, people drive from all over the metroplex to pick up their produce, homemade dips and spreads, lamb, turkish coffee, delicate pastries, and of course, the oven baked pita bread that we can't get enough of!
The Market
Once you start perusing the fridge doors and shelves, you’ll quickly realize that Sara’s has so many unique and products from around the world that you can’t find anywhere else! You can find falafel, gyro bread, all sorts of goat cheeses, an entire aisle of nuts and crackers, huge liters of olive oil for $10, figs prepared 5 different ways, mango and guava juice, and everything you need to make chicken kabobs and shwarma. It’s amazing!
THE BAKERY AND BUTCHERY
The market has an on-site chef and butcher. Find seasoned lamb, chopped beef, and a variety of chicken. They also have a walk-up grill where you can order kabobs, kefta, pita wraps, and more. The chef makes hummus, spicy eggplant dip, Tzatziki, and Baba ghanoush among other dips and spreads. The bakery serves homemade pastries that are seriously some of the best we’ve tried! Everything is homemade, including the whipped cream, and you can find eclairs, coconut macaroons, banana bread, mini fruit tarts, and more baked goods!
