Updated January 2020
We have gone all around town searching for the healthiest (and tastiest) eats! In a city defined by its Southern food, tacos and BBQ, it can be hard to eat healthy, but sprinkled throughout, there are several gems that offer food that’s just as delicious for our tastebuds as it is for our bodies! Check out our choices below!
UNLEAVENED
Unleavened
Located in Lakewood and now Snider Plaza, Unleavened serves as a great spot for a casual breakfast, lunch or dinner! You can choose from a variety of flavorful food combinations (all of which are gluten free!) that can be placed in either a wrap or over a bed of greens. My personal favorite is the Clubhouse over greens. I’ve never particularly raved about a salad, but that one blew my expectations out of the water! With so many different and innovative flavors included on the menu, Unleavened is the fun and exciting healthy restaurant you’ve been waiting to try!

TRIBAL ALL DAY CAFE
Tribal All Day Cafe
What started as fresh pressed juice has turned into an adorable cafe in Bishop Arts serving us up healthy breakfast, lunches and dinners! The ingredients are of the best quality and locally sourced and in fact, they say it best: “Our local farm friends raise cage free eggs and sustainable cheeses from happy chickens and cows. We are inspired by seasonality and conscience consumption. We believe in nourishment and quality over any exclusive diet. There is a plate at the table for everyone, we invite you to come eat with us.”

If you’re up on the latest and greatest health food, this place is definitely for you. Brewed + Pressed is your typical coffee shop, just taken one step further. In addition to coffee and tea, they serve up shakes and juices using superfood ingredients, like pumpkin seed milk or blue majik. They also have breakfast items, vegetarian bowls, and sweets to choose from, all of which use nutrient-dense ingredients. DREAM CAFE
Dream Cafe
Truly a dream for vegans and healthy eaters around, the Dream Cafe offers a breakfast and brunch menu that caters to all types of food preferences. While they can swap out regular cheese on an omelette for soy cheese, or regular sausage for veggie sausage, they’re 100% consistent in using organic and local ingredients in addition to hormone-free meat. If you’re not too hungry, order the yogurt, granola, or oatmeal with scrambled egg whites and veggie sausage. If you’re feeling a little more indulgent, their Cloud Cakes, Cinnamon Snails, or Granola-Crusted French Toast will certainly satisfy.

MIXT
mixt
This might seem like just another build-your-own salad bowl concept, but it’s a lot more than that. What started out as frustration for lack of delicious, healthy, high-quality casual restaurants spurred a big idea, and from there, in 2006, MIXT was born. Fast forward 14 years and they opened their FIRST Texas location right here in Dallas! You can choose one of their well-balanced and nutritious signature salads, opt for a market plate and choose your own main, 2 sides and house-made sauce or go for a hearty (but healthy) grain bowl!
The best part? They only source from farms and purveyors they trust, and always keep pesticides, chemicals and GMO’s out of their recipes.

In fact, HG stands for hunter gatherer! You can even drink healthy: a few of their drinks are infused with ginger kombucha, so there’s no need to second guess your decision to get cocktail. You can also head to their sister mega-concept, HERO, in Victory Park which features the same menu and a lot of new additions!
