Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, also known as AANHPI Heritage Month, takes place every year in May! It's a month to honor the history and contributions of AANHPI Americans to our country. 5/10-5/31 Iron Men: The Artistry of Iron in Samurai Armor

Did you know there’s a samurai museum tucked away in the Harwood District? If you haven’t checked it out, there’s no better time than this month! The Ann & Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Museum: The Samurai Collection is hosting its latest exhibition, all about iron’s role in Japanese warrior technology and culture throughout the centuries. 5/12-5/14 Asian Heritage Festival

Head to Asia Times Square, one of the largest Asian markets in Texas, for their annual Asian Heritage Festival! This free three-day event will be full of food, art, and education – all celebrating the contributions of Asian Americans to society. Visitors can taste authentic food from multiple countries and regions made by local vendors, watch traditional and modern dance performances, and learn about history through cultural exhibits and displays!

5/20 Garland's Asian Heritage Festival

Join the city of Garland for its inaugural festival celebrating diverse AANHPI cultures! The event lasts from 2pm to 10pm, with entertainment going all day long! Performances include a Lion Dance, Colorful World Parade, a pageant, and more. Visitors can also check out local art, craft stalls, and vendors! Countries highlighted include Thailand, Laos, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, India, Japan, Korea and Hawaii.

5/21 Charity Pickleball Tournament

Chicken N Pickle Grand Prairie is hosting a pickleball tournament with Asia Times Square! The tournament kicks off at 10am and ends at 1pm, with cash prizes for the top three teams. Entry is $100 per team, and proceeds benefit The LOH Foundation, which provides jobs, scholarships, and funding to those in need.

5/17, 5/24 & 5/31 The Living Room: A Virtual Gathering

Join staff from the Crow Museum of Asian Art for an evening of discussion, starting at 6pm. This will be an open and safe space to conversations about anti-AAPI racism and discrimination. Attendees are encouraged to share experiences and ask questions.

5/27 Preserving Our Heritage

Join the Dallas Asian American Historical Society for a free workshop in honor of AANHPI Heritage Month! In this workshop, you’ll learn how to document your legacy through oral storytelling and historic preservation. This event takes place from 11am to 3:30pm, at the Fretz Park Branch Library.

5/27 AAPI Night Market Block Party

Krio

Join Krio and Asian Grub for their annual AAPI Heritage Month Celebration! This year, they’re throwing an outdoor night market featuring 30+ local food and vendors.  The event lasts from 6pm to 10pm, so make it a whole night of food and fun! Admission is free, but you can skip the line with a Tasting Fastpass available for $75. All proceeds from Fastpass sales will go to Make-A-Wish North Texas!

5/28 Movies on the Lawn: Moana

Bring the whole fam to celebrate Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander culture with a Disney classic! AT&T Discovery District will host a free screening of Moana 7pm, on the 104-foot media wall, with free admission. Bring your chairs and blankets, and don’t forget to grab some movie snacks at The Exchange Hall!
