About: This popular local gourmet grocery store and cafe has several locations around Dallas, with their newest venture moving into the former Foxtrot space on McKinney Avenue. The 4,100-square-foot spot boasts inside seating and a patio, with a menu that offers coffee, tea, breakfast burritos, pastries, beer and wine, and more.
The 101: With our office in the State Thomas area, we’re thrilled that this amazing corner space is being used again! It’s quickly becoming one of our favorite spots for a quick breakfast, afternoon snack or pick-me-up, or after-work glass of wine and charcuterie on the patio!
Cafe Dior
Neighborhood: Highland Park
Cuisine: French
About: With locations in cities like Paris, Miami, and Tokyo, Café Dior next-level culinary destination in partnership with Dominique Crenn, the renowned three-Michelin-starred chef behind Atelier Crenn in San Francisco. Most locations focus on coffee and pastries, the Dallas outpost elevates the experience with a fine dining concept serving lunch and tea.
The 101: While reservations are currently fully booked, we experienced the café without one at the bar! It’s available for walk-ins, for cocktails, caviar, and bread and butter service. We loved the ambiance, service, and our cocktail and are looking forward to tasting the food!
CHICHA San Chen

About: CHICHA San Chen was founded in Taichung City, Taiwan, in 1998 and has since expanded to hundreds of locations worldwide, with its newest spot now in Dallas. The brand is known for its commitment to high-quality tea leaves and expert brewing techniques, earning the equivalent of a three-Michelin-star rating from the International Taste Institute.
The 101: We’re so excited to see this international fave arrive in DFW! This spot is a tea lovers heaven, with endless options like the Dong Ding Oolong Milk Tea, Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea, Creamy Lemon Tart, and Taro galore. You can even customize your drink!
Common Good
Neighborhood: East Dallas

About: This new Latino-owned neighborhood spot is a triple threat: a coffee shop, hair salon, and listening room all in one. The retro space features plenty of seating, a wall filled with vinyl, and DJs spinning every other Sunday.
The 101: This is one of the coolest spaces and such a unique idea! We love that this is a one-stop shop, and it’s probably one of the most vibey spots in town for a haircut, with disco balls, vintage records, and greenery galore. We loved the unique sips like the Cardamom Rose Latte and the Mexican Mocha – grab one during a DJ set for the best experience!
DOMODOMO kō
Neighborhood: Uptown

About: Hailing from NYC, this popular sushi spot has chosen Dallas for its third location, offering a seven-course omakase experience. The new location is slightly different from the two on the East Coast, with a more refined experience designed to highlight craftsmanship and seasonal ingredients.
The 101: We don’t want to spoil the whole experience, but if you love unique flavors, stunning presentation, and top-quality fish, this spot is a must-try! It’s definitely worth the $135 per person and perfect for a date night – with only 15 tables, it’s a truly intimate vibe!
Easy Slider
Neighborhood: Deep Ellum

About: A beloved Dallas slider food truck for years, Easy Slider has returned with a new, permanent location after closing its original Deep Ellum spot in 2023. The menu specializes in unique, gourmet sliders featuring fun flavor combinations, plus cocktails and chicken tenders.
The 101: We’re thrilled to see the return of this spot – these may be the best (and most creative) sliders you’ll ever have. Some favorites include Sweet & Lowdown, The Nutty Pig, and It’s All Gouda, and don’t skip the banana pudding either!
Far Out

About: The former Wriggly Tin space, which used to be a mechanic’s garage, has turned into a restaurant and brewery! The team behind the project includes experienced restauranteurs, mixologists, and brewers, with the space offering a great cocktail menu and in-house brewery to come.
The 101: This spot is such a gem, and truly a spot that can take you from day to night. By day, grab a seat and a craft cocktail on the patio for a laid-back vibe, and stay through sunset to enjoy a lively atmosphere with DJs spinning!
Foxtrot Market

About: In and out of the news for the last year, the once-beloved coffee shop and convenience store from Chicago has made its return to Dallas and reopened its Knox Street location, marking its return to Dallas after a sudden closure in 2024.
The 101: We were heartbroken after the loss of Foxtrot in Dallas, and are like many Dallasites cautiously optimistic! It’s exciting to see the cafe back in Dallas, with the same things we loved before like breakfast tacos, coffee, snacks, flowers, ice cream, alcohol, and local products!

About: Hampton Social is a Chicago-based, East Coast-inspired, getaway concept with a “rosé all day” theme complete with all the rosé wines by the glass, rosé cocktails, frosé, and more. It will open in the former Iron Cactus space in Downtown, in 18,000 square feet of space, with three levels and a members-only basement.
The 101: Opening March 20th to the public, we've only stopped by this spot for a preview -- but we have been to the locations in Nashville and Chicago and can't wait to get the full experience! The space is Instagrammable and lively, perfect for a girls' night out, and the seafood-filled menu and colorful cocktails give all the vacay vibes!
Hurtado Barbecue

About: Founded by Brandon and Hannah Hurtado, this Tex-Mex BBQ joint started with just an umbrella and a dream before growing into a food truck, a brick-and-mortar- and now four locations across DFW! Known for their “Mexicue” Brisket, birria tacos, and bold flavors, Hurtado BBQ is now one of Texas’ largest independently owned BBQ restaurants.
The 101: Hurtado is the perfect weekend lunch or dinner spot after browsing local shops and vendors. About: La Casita Bakeshop’s location inside Half Price Books has added a new concept – La Tiki Paisa, a full-service tiki bar and restaurant open every evening. The 101: This is such a unique addition to the bookstore – we were blown away by the food, drinks, and space! Start with small plates like Crispy Scotch Shrimp, Kimchi Fries, or an EXCELLENT beef tartare with herbs, cashews, and egg. To drink, try the Golden Escalator, Cafecito Grog, or Mai Tai!
Ocean Ranch

About: Founded chef-partner Enrico Glaudo, who grew up near the Italy-France border, brings his Italian influence to this seafood and steak restaurant! The menu is all about approachable, high-quality steak and seafood, with in-house dry-aged steaks and fresh seafood delivered daily.
The 101: This new spot is such a vibe, perfect for after a casual stroll or date-night dinner before hitting the town! Their lineup of beautifully presented dishes tasted just as good as they looked, like half-shell oysters of the day, tuna tartare, and seafood risotto. They also have a killer cocktail list – get the Agua-Rita and the orange-infused espresso martini.
Ruthie’s Cafe

About: Ruthie’s Fueled by Good is a nonprofit gourmet grilled cheese food truck that's been a staple in the community. Now, they've opened a brick-and-mortar location called Ruthie’s Cafe, donating all proceeds to St. Philip’s School and Community Center. The cafe serves breakfast and lunch sandwiches, with an emphasis on creative takes on the classic grilled cheese.
The 101: Grilled cheese for a great cause? Count us in! The cafe is adorable, and the menu offers affordable prices and just about any grilled cheese flavor combo you can think of. Try the Italian Hippie with pesto, The Boss with barbecue brisket, or the Crazy Chicken for a little spice!

About: A pairing many years in the making, local cidery Trinity Cider has joined forces with Dominican pop-up Picadera to take over a big space in Deep Ellum that’s now open for ciders and chimis. The new, lively space is open ‘til late, serving creative, fruity ciders and an array of Dominican street food.
The 101: After years of Picadera popping up at Trinity Cider, this pairing is a match made in heaven. The combo creates such a fun atmosphere of drinks, Dominican music, and dancing, with a side of delicious food! Try the chimi sandwich, Dominican smashburger, and empanadas, and wash it down with a Mangonada or Cide Boob!
Vaqueros Texas Bar-B-Q

About: What began as a food truck at Hop & Sting Brewery in Grapevine has expanded to a brick-and-mortar location in Allen. Pitmaster Arnulfo “Trey” Sánchez gaining national recognition—including as a 2024 James Beard Award finalist for his delicious barbecue with a Tex-Mex twist.
The 101: As fans of the OG food truck for years, we’ve been waiting for this one! We loved the space, from watching the climate-controlled pit room to sipping at the margarita bar. Must-try menu items are the Tour of Texas, BBQ Birria Tacos, Hickory Smoked Elote, 3-Cheese Mac, and the Tortilla Quemada Soft Serve.
Whisk Crepes

About: Formerly located at Sylvan Thirty, this beloved spot has reopened at a new home in Bishop Arts. Founded in 2015 by French-born chef Julien Eelsen, Whisk brings a taste of Paris to Dallas, offering an authentic creperie where every crepe is made fresh throughout the day.
The 101: This is one of our favorite creperies in Dallas, and the charming Bishop Arts neighborhood is the perfect new location! You can’t go wrong with any of the sweet or savory options – our faves are the Hen of the Woods, Jourdain, and Luka aka The G.O.A.T. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee and crepe to-go or making a brunch date out of it, this French-owned spot is a must-visit!

About: Written by the Seasons has opened its second location at The Quad, a new development in Uptown. The farm-to-table restaurant’s Bishop Arts location is a beloved spot, known for its ever-changing seasonal menu that won it a spot on Michelin’s “Recommended” list in 2024.
The 101: Either of Written’s locations is a must-try, and this one is especially perfect for date night with a moody, romantic atmosphere! Standouts from the menu include the kimchi pancakes, dayboat scallops, grilled salmon, pistachio pavlova, and the espresso martini – but the evolving menu means there’s always something new to try each time you come back!
