Ella has officially opened in Preston Hollow Village, bringing a warm, elevated take on modern comfort food to the neighborhood. With a Michelin-recognized chef in the kitchen, a standout cocktail program, and a hidden speakeasy upstairs, it’s already one of the most exciting openings this summer!

ELLA DINE + DRINKS
The concept is the latest from Dallas restaurateur Blaine McGowan, with culinary direction from Executive Chef Kyle Farr (formerly of Boulevardier and Sachet) and a beverage program led by Julian Shaffer, recently recognized by the Michelin Guide for his cocktail work at Rye and Apothecary.

OUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Located in the former Chido Taco Lounge space, Ella blends timeless bistro charm with a modern, female-forward feel. As soon as you step inside, you’re met with rich green walls, globe chandeliers, a red-tiled bar, and cozy booths…plus a tucked-away staircase that leads to Customs, their speakeasy that’s open nightly!
ON THE MENU
Chef Farr’s menu is rooted in elevated comfort food with thoughtful details. Some highlights include shrimp and masa dumplings with charred brocolini, steak tartare with cured egg yolk and fresh bread, tender pork cheeks in orange jus, and a slow-braised short rib in a delicious red wine reduction. We ordered and would recommend:
🍐 Poached Pear (ordered 3 of these, each…so good)
🍉 Libertad
🍞 Bread Service
🥩 Steak Tartare
🍷 Short Rib slow braised in red wine
🍟 Steak Frites
🍯 Panna Cotta + charcoal honeycomb and guava
WHAT THEY’RE POURING
Once you try one, you’ll want to work your way through the whole cocktail list. Some favorites include the Poached Pear (brandy, riesling, brown butter) and the Summer Dqiquiri made with charanga, watermelon, and mint! You also need to try the Salsa Verde Ranch Water with tequila, mezcal, and tomatillo… don’t know it till you try it!
