We finally got to try Design Districts’ newest sushi spot Shodo Dallas and were so impressed with the gorgeous space, vast menu, and insane presentation!

Updated April 2024

SHODO

Shodo opened at the end of last year and is an elevated, modern Japanese kitchen that blends traditional Japanese flavors with creative twists in both their dishes and cocktails. The space is so beautifully done and somewhere you could sit for hours, plus each dish is thoughtfully presented like a work of art!

Shodo

JAPANESE FUSION

On the menu you’ll find an array of dishes ranging from cold starters to classic & signature rolls, sashimi & nigiri, and unique hot entrees like Shodo Big Rib with cilantro, sesame and yuzu, Duck with plum sauce, and Katsuobushi Fettuccini with onsen egg, scallions and bonito flakes.

They also offer stunning craft cocktails with Japanese flavors and ingredients like the Japanese espresso martini! Plus they have extensive sake, Japanese whiskey, and wine menus!

THE SPACE

The massive 4,000 square foot space is absolutely stunning with nods to Japanese culture like the snow monkey mural and zen private omakase room. In addition to the main dining room there is a 20-seat bar, 10-seat sushi bar, 12-seat omakase room, plus a private event room that seats up to 40!

THE DETAILS

Right now Shodo is open for happy hour and dinner, with lunch coming soon. Reservations can be booked on Resy, or give them a call directly at 214-764-2961!

PSA: the space can be tricky to find, it’s nestled between Delucca Gaucho and Pakpao on Oak Lawn Ave, you’ll park in the main lot then walk around to Oak Lawn to enter the building!
