We recently stumbled upon Taipo Arlington and Taipo Behind The Door, a fast-casual Nepalese restaurant-meets-speakeasy! There’s truly nothing else like it in DFW, and we’re excited to share all the deets with y’all!

TAIPO

Their catchphrase, "with love, from Nepal", says it all! Taipo is bringing all the flavors of the region to DFW! The owners, Puri and Riza, are Nepal natives and felt there was a shortage of the cuisine in the area. So Taipo was born, and has quickly become a favorite in the neighborhood!

The adorable restaurant is bright, airy, and decked out in turquoise from floor to ceiling. It’s also affordable and perfect for a quick bite–just order from the window and grab a seat!

THE MENU & WHAT WE ORDERED

The menu features Nepalese classics, and the handmade taipo and momo dumplings are the stars of the show! If you haven’t had Nepalese cuisine before, it’s sort of a combo of Chinese and Indian flavors – aka the best of both worlds! We loved:

🥢 Pan Seared Momo Dumplings

🥟 Vegan Taipo

🍜 Chow Mein Noodles

🌶 House Hot Sauce (a must if you like spicy 🥵)

🥝 Taipo Refresher

🥥 Dragonfruit Cold Foam Refresher

SWANKY SPEAKEASY

At the back of the restaurant, step through the 15-foot Torana door to find Taipo Behind The Door, a moody speakeasy that transports you to the temples of Kathmandu. You’ll be surrounded by ornate architecture and art pieces like prayer wheels and a giant gold statue, all imported from Nepal! On the menu, you’ll find an array of Asian-inspired cocktails (our fave was the Dirty Matcha Espresso Martini) plus small bites, happy hour, and even brunch!

Pro tip: They can light up any of their cocktails like in the photo, just ask your bartender!

DETAILS & LOCATION
