Dallas Skyline Dusk

Your 101 to the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse in Dallas

The 2024 Total Solar Eclipse is all Dallas is talking about right now! DFW will be one of the best places to see this magical event on April 8th. Whether you're heading to a viewing party, taking it all in from a trail, or want to see it with skyline views, there's so much happening around town!

ABOUT THE ECLIPSE

On April 8th, 2024, the moon will pass directly between the Sun and Earth! In some places, the moon will completely block the sun, called the path of totality. Dallas will be located directly within the path of totality, making it one of the best places to view the eclipse in the country! The partial eclipse over Dallas will last from 12:23pm to 3:02pm, reaching totality from 1:40pm to 1:44pm. This will be the last time Dallas is in the path of totality until the year 2317!

SAFETY TIPS

Looking at the sun is always dangerous, and it still is during a solar eclipse! The best way to view the eclipse safely is to wear special eclipse glasses, which allow you to see everything happening without obstructing your view. Many spots around town will have them for free or to buy, or you can find them online -- we recommend American Eclipse Solar brand!
