One of our favorite coffee shops meets wine bars meets casual cafes is Ascension Coffee. This globally sourced, locally roasted coffee is actually the largest indie coffeehouse shop chain in Dallas! Pretty cool!

ASCENSION

If you aren’t familiar with Ascension, it started back in 2012, after a really bad cup of coffee and a few years of global travel, the founder wanted to leverage his Australian roots and bring innovation to the Dallas coffee scene. There’s now 6 locations around DFW, serving delicious coffee, all day breakfast, weekend brunch, lunch and dinner, cocktails & wine and in a modern, boho setting!

DESIGN DISTRICT REOPENING

If you have been to their OG spot, on Oak Lawn right after you cross into the Design District, you know it as a quaint cafe hidden behind a wall of vines. The plants remain, but it’s no longer quaint, having expanded and renovated its space! Modern wicker lights, big windows and leather couches now fill the room, that includes the building next door they combined with their own.

MORE TOUCHES

You’ll also find new menu items like House-Cured Lox and Bagel with heirloom tomato and whipped cream cheese, and a Brunch Burger with caramelized onions, arugula and spicy ranch. We also tried the beautiful Poke Tuna Bowl, one of many salads and bowls for lunch. And of course our favorite will always be the avocado toast..you can’t beat it!

DRINKS

If you thought coffee was all you could sip at Ascension, there’s also teas, frozen concoctions and smoothies, fresh juices, wine and cocktails like an Aperol Spritz, Bloody Mary and Paloma! It’s the only local place with a PSL on the menu we’ve seen this early, and there’s also a special shroom latte with adaptogens, a Kyoto-style cold brew and two extremely rare coffees from women Yemeni farmers!
