Shoutout to everyone who has recommended Mami Coco! This tiny taqueria in East Dallas has been on our list, and we drove by it recently and detoured to stop in! It was both precious & delicious!
Updated March 2021
Mami Coco opened in 2018 on the corner of Bryan and N Carroll... down from another great taco spot, Tacos La Banqueta. The space has been home to other taco spots including El Guero and Taqueria Conin and is now owned and operated by Gustavo, who serves up authentic Mexican food!
Atmosphere
Pull into the parking lot to find a few outdoor tables covered with palm frawns for a tropical vibe. Inside, there’s one long skinny aisle to order at the counter while the team cooks behind. A colorful mural fills the wall, and a Frida painting greets you on the back wall. It's simple but cute spot to pick up food to-go or eat outside!
Food
Choose from street tacos, burritos, flautas, sopes, enchiladas or quesadillas and select your meat of choice to add. The enchiladas, which came highly recommend, include a red tortilla filled with queso fresco and onions topped with lettuce, carrots, potatoes and sour cream. They were unlike anything we have had before, and we definitely suggest trying them along with the chicharron prensado meat (pressed pork) on a taco. So add Mami Coco to your list next time you are on a tex mex kick!
