Hands down one of the coolest spots in Oak Cliff, The Wild Detectives opened when we first moved to Dallas. It's an independent bookstore, creative hang and late night cocktail haven that's off the beaten path. Those who know it love it, but visitors who stick to N Bishop Ave may miss it! If that’s you, here's why you absolutely must venture down the street and check out this spot!
Wild Detectives (WD) opened back in 2014, providing a great spot to work, play and connect with the creative community! And fun fact, it’s the sister spot to neighboring Sketches of Spain down the street. That means it’s also Spanish owned and has a great collection of Spanish books and events.
Inside this renovated Craftsman home, you'll find a really cozy environment with wood elements and books that decorate the walls, tables, and shelves. Their books include fiction, non-fiction, kids, coffee table, educational, creative, biographical and more! They also have an online bookstore where you can browse different categories before making your purchase. When you visit, grab a book and post up in the comfy nook to see if it’s one you want to take home.
COFFEE SHOP
If you're there need to get some work done instead, this is still the place for you! You can post up on one of the many tables to work. We often spot students studying away, as Wild Detectives has a quiet, calm atmosphere! But put those laptops away on weekends, because that's when the wifi turns off!
HAPPY HOUR
To take the bookstore to the next level, this neighborhood hang offers drinks to enjoy during your visit! They even put a fun twist on their happy hour. From weekdays 3-6 PM, buy a book and score a free drink!
