THE BUILDING

When you drive up, you’ll notice the building is very unassuming (or was until just two weeks ago when muralist Des Revol added some art to the facade.) But walk inside to find a small space with a chalkboard menu listing out the fresh smoothies.

ABOUT

Founded by Tisha Crear in 2017, she wanted to better her Oak Cliff neighborhood, starting with healthy food! According to a Dallas Observer article, “Crear’s goal is to give people alternatives to meat and the processed meat substitutes that are a staple of many vegetarian and vegan diets."

MENU

We tried the jackfruit tacos but you can also get it as a salad, or a BBQ plate. You’ll never know you aren’t eating pulled pork! We also tried the zoodles (zucchini noodles) that reminded us of a healthy version of an Alfredo pasta.

THEIR MISSION

The goal according to their website, “is to highlight interpretations of cultural and 'ethnic' family style and street foods.” And Recipe is actually a part of an incubator founded by Crear that aims to raise money to focus on neighborhood development and revitalization in the 75216 zip code. That means that Crear also offers her Recipe space as a test kitchen too!

VEGAN VIBRATIONZ

Currently, you can also find another vegan chef there - Vegan Vibrationz with a meal option offered on Saturday and Sundays! The menu is posted weekly on the Instagram page! Or if you love the mission of Crear, you can donate to her GoFundMe, link in Recipe Oak Cliff's Instagram bio! But definitely make sure you make it over to Recipe and try some amazing plant-based fare!
