We're turning our attention to the beautiful backyard patio that is The Foundry! It is still in the process of renovations, but there's beer, fried chicken, live music and great vibes to enjoy while the rest comes together! Plus, the space is dog-friendly and has a full bar!

Updated January 2022

The Foundry first opened back in 2011, along Fort Worth Ave, near Sylvan 30 and The Belmont Hotel (can it make its return too please?!). String lights, picnic tables, and a warehouse chic aesthetic have made it a go-to in the Oak Cliff community for live music, backyard hangs, and great fried chicken.

Think of it as a more hipster version of Ice House if you aren’t yet familiar. It sadly announced its permanent closure early in the pandemic but just a month ago, it was announced that the owner of Eno's Pizza Tavern was bringing it back to life!

The revival happened quickly with doors already open seven days a week. The decorative containers were painted white to bring a more farmhouse modern vibe to the patio. The funky stage art was also removed as the new owner redesigned that part of the bar. The interior and Chicken Scratch restaurant were reworked as well, and they are ready for your visit!

Inside you'll find Chicken Scratch, the staple watering hole and live music venue, within The Foundry. It's a 2-in-1 situation. They serve delicious tenders, which are just as good as they ever were, and incredible bone-in chicken. Order a brew or a cocktail when you sit down to kick off your meal! Pro tip: host your celebration here or have them cater your event elsewhere!

This indoor / outdoor restaurant is a little slice of the Texas Hill Country just outside of downtown. The patio is dog friendly, kids are welcome any time, and they even have live music! No need to worry about weather when it comes to sitting outside. Their renovated shipping container seating has fans for the heat, heaters for the cold, and a roof for the rain... plus TV's to watch your favorite teams play! Happy hour is Monday - Friday from 4 - 6 PM, which is the perfect opportunity to treat yourself to this revived staple of West Dallas.

Visit now and then visit again as the space evolves and continual renovations set in! The owner plans to bring more concepts to the property that you won't want to miss out on. He owns more warehouses next door and has some ideas brewing already!
