A new speakeasy and Mexican restaurant to add to the list! We checked out La Mina recently and loved the underground atmosphere coupled with the super creative speakeasy!

La Mina is another one of The Village Dallas' new concepts that joins Anise, The Village Golf Club, The Meridian and more, as a part of the multi million development! It opened just a few months ago on the backside of the Drey Hotel, hidden away from passerby’s. It’s dark, fun and they have the coolest secret tequila bar!

Walk around the hotel and then down a ramp to find the underground restaurant. The intimate patio is colorful and mural-filled, with big rock walls enclosing it from the outside world. Inside, you’ll find a sultry space with an illuminated bar, booths, and mid century modern vibes, and Latin music filling the room with energy.

A menu of modern Mexican dishes from pork belly pastor tacos to mole dishes, Veracruz fish cooked in a banana leaf, aguachile, queso fundido, and more. Ingredients are sourced from Mexico and from local producers, and corn tortillas are house made using a process called nixtamalization aka they’re really good!

For drinks, try the La Mina ‘Rita made with charcoal to give it its black coloring and lemonade taste, which is served in an Instagrammable skull cup and topped with tajin candy!

After dinner, ask your server for the code to access the secret bar. Past the bathrooms, you’ll find the Tequila neon sign calling you through the doors to a room designed to look like the stock room of a restaurant. Enter the code next to the industrial refrigerator doors and walk into a dimly lit cocktail bar!

It makes for a super fun date night spot or late night haunt as it’s open until 12 am on weekends! But make sure to return for brunch because they serve horchata French toast!
